Have you been able to activate your membership for the "FordPass Charging Network" yet? Are there any details about what that membership even includes?
More problems trying to activate the Fordpass charging network. It won't connect. I am on my 5th Ford customer service rep, no one is sure what the issue is.

You are all welcome I am clearly the crash test dummy on the Ford connected services...

Here are the terms of the Fordpass charging network:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Access to the Charging Network is required before you can utilize the Services at a Charging Network Station.

A. Access to Charging Network Service Plans

i. Complimentary Network Access. Access to the Charging Network for 2021 and later model year EVs includes a complimentary 2-year trial, and begins with the EV New Vehicle Limited Warranty start date. During the trial period, you will have access to any Charging Network Station within the Charging Network. You will be billed for all fees including but not limited to fees for the Services initiated by you in any manner, including, without limitation, with your FordPass app or remotely by a customer relations agent.

ii. Charging Network Access Plan. Upon expiration of the complimentary 2-year trial, for network access, you may purchase from Ford Smart Mobility, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company (collectively, “Ford”) a one (1) year term of Charging Network access for an annual fee plus taxes and fees if applicable. This one-year term may be purchased annually without limitation.

iii. Refunds. Full refund of a single Charging Network Access purchase may be issued by Ford to you for one of the following reasons:

a. EV owned by original owner qualifies under the “Lemon-Law” of the state in which you reside.

b. Special circumstances including total loss, original vehicle owner’s death or force majeure as defined in Section 14 below. Ford, in its sole discretion, will determine what events qualify as special circumstances.

c. A transaction is attributable to fraud or a technical issue of a Ford-owned or operated system that resulted in over-payment.

iv. Session Fees. Certain Charging Network Stations on the Charging Network may charge Session Fees (“Session Fees”) during or after a charging event (hereinafter, “Public Charging Event” or “Public Charging”). These fees, if applicable will be posted at the Charging Network Station for your review prior to instituting charging. For purposes of these Terms, Session Fees shall be defined as all costs a customer may incur during or after Public Charging Event including but not limited to fees charged as a result of: (a) type of charging service provided by Charging Network Station operator; (b) occupancy of a Charging Network Station beyond Public Charging Event completion (“Idle Fees”); and/or (c) continuation of a Public Charge Event beyond kWh balance depletion. Charging Network Stations may set a period of time (“Grace Period”) in which you may move your vehicle without penalty. After a set Grace Period has elapsed you may be charged Session Fees.

Access to the Charging Network will expire or terminate for the following reasons: (i) failure to purchase Charging Network access prior to the complimentary trial expiration date; (ii) failure to purchase additional Charging Network Access plan(s) after the term of paid Charging Network Access has expired; or (iii) change in EV ownership leading to removal of the EV VIN from your FordPass Account - My Garage or deactivation of the connection between your Account and the vehicle’s FordPass Connect modem.

4. FordPass Charging Bundles

A. Complimentary FordPass Charging Bundle

i. 2021 and later model year EVs, will have access to a complimentary FordPass Charging Bundle of 250 kWh which can be used at select Charging Network Stations within the Charging Network. The complimentary Charging Bundle expires three (3) years from your EV New Vehicle Limited Warranty start date . The Charging Bundle runs concurrently with your complimentary 2-year Charging Network access trial described above in 3(A)(i)

B. Your kWh credit balance will be available for three years from the complimentary trial start date. Any kWh credit balance remaining at the end of the complimentary trial period will: (i) expire or terminate after a change in EV ownership occurs leading to removal of the EV VIN from your FordPass Account - My Garage; or (ii) deactivation of the connection between your Account and the vehicle’s FordPass Connect modem.

C. You are responsible for all applicable taxes and fees.

5. Charging Events

A. EV payments for Public Charging Event at any Charging Network Station are customer-initiated. You will be automatically charged for your Public Charging events.

B. Ford will utilize one of the following payment methods based on availability and applicability to Public Charging Event:

i. Drawdown of kWh credit balance

ii. Credit card or debit card default in Wallet

iii. Combination of kWh credit balance and default card in Wallet

In the event a customer’s kWh credit balance is fully depleted during a Public Charging Event, a customer’s default card in Wallet will be charged for the remaining amount owed.

C. All Public Charging Events are subject to Session Fees as described in Section 3(A)(iv).

D. All charges will include taxes and fees if applicable

E. Refund. Full refund of a single Public Charging Event purchase may be issued by Ford to the purchaser for one of the following reasons:

i. EV owned by original owner qualifies under the “Lemon-Law” of the state in which you reside.

ii. Special circumstances including total loss, original vehicle owner’s death or force majeure as defined in Section 14 below. Ford, in its sole discretion, will determine what events qualify as special circumstances.

iii. A transaction is attributable to fraud or a technical issue of a Ford-owned or operated system that resulted in over-payment.

Glad it see this thread made it back from all that off topic BS. Just to clarify. Are you saying that the MME doesn’t unlock every time you walk up with the phone in my pocket? Or is it just a car alarm that the app can’t turn off?
Both. And sometimes when you get into the car, the dash reads "No key present", even though the phone is the key and is present. It clearly looks like connectivity issues. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't

Curious as to more specific on Phone-As-A-Key issues you've encountered. I know the FordPass app may not be reliable, as it's relies on network connectivity, but PaaK shouldn't have too many issues, I'd hope.

What specifically has been your issues with Phone-As-A-Key?
PaaK issues are the car does not always recognize the phone as a key. One time it wouldn't let me enter the vehicle, one time after I opened the vehicle it didn't recognize the phone as a key and would not let me start the vehicle. When that happens and I open up the Ford app, its clearly not connected.

Thanks for that. I'm still struggling to see what the FordPass network really gives you. It seems to be a payment agregator, so you can use one app (or Plug & Charge) at participating charging stations. Is that it? Does it give you member pricing at EA stations? Is it required for some of the "route with charging" Nav options? None of this matters all that much while it's free, but if they expect us to start paying for it, I certainly expect it to do more.

What type of phone do you have? Bluetooth versions vary depending on the make/model of phone.

Can you disable Sirius Radio so it doesn't start blaring right when you start the car?

I loved my old Mustang but this was my #1 pet peeve (which says a lot about the car). I considered splicing in a switch to the antenna just to avoid having to deal with it (without ruining the resale) but just stuck it out until I sold it.

Do you need the Ford account to use plug and play at EA? NOT worth the app hassle is it’s really only to claim 250 kWh.

I would think it would just remain on the last audio selection you left it on last time you drive the car. That's the way our Escape works, and pretty much every other car I've driven.

The Mach-E is supposed to take that a step further by having a person profile for each driver.

Yes, this is exactly how it works.

Looks like something for the first OTA update. Not something I am really surprised about, but hopefully not widespread or at least corrected within 6 months.

That could get old fast.
