Looks like you got a good deal. If I can ask, How much is your monthly payment and did you put down any additional money?

I have a GT on the way that should arrive this week or next. I’ll be happy if I get as good of a deal as you did.

What color did you get? Post a picture if you can.
Sure, $0 down, monthly is $719. I got the first GT they had, its White with all the upgrades available.

So I emailed my dealer concerning the molten magenta Mach E listed as "in stock" on their site.

It is apparently not "in stock" despite what the site says. However, it does have an ETA of 5/17 whereas the one I originally put my deposit on had an ETA back in April. Anyway, the salesman agreed to move my deposit over to this other Mach E as it looks like it will hopefully arrive this week.

It's a bit more than the original one I put a deposit on due to having the panoramic roof and bronze wheel options, but I'm fine with that. Hopefully it will actually arrive this week.

Honestly, I'm thinking part of the issue is that Ford (and probably every other legacy car manufacturer) really isn't set up for people doing pre-orders and constantly checking their order status online.

With most of my previous cars and while being dragged car shopping with my parents when younger, generally the process was you figure out what makes and models of cars you're interested in, you visit a several dealerships in person to see what they have on the lot, and if they have one you like on the lot you negotiate a deal and purchase the car or move on to a different dealership to repeat the process.

Even with online shopping, I don't think it's that different. You look at the dealer's website, then contact the dealer via the website or head down in person to look at the cars, wash, rinse, repeat.

If you're shopping in one of these "traditional" manners, you probably won't be quite as peeved unless you were really, really in a rush to get said new car. You'd be like, "Oh, they just don't have what I want yet," and move on and/or wait patiently.

We're kind of the weirdos here in that we did a pre-order/pre-deposit on cars and are constantly trying to figure out where the car is that we put some money on a few months ago before they even showed up on the lot. Ford isn't really geared to handle this as I think most of their customers, even now, don't shop that way.
I definitely think you're right here...we're the exception. That said, it would be so easy for Ford to accommodate this customer base. They just need to share the actual location of the vehicle and the actual status. If we had that info many of us (me at least) would be much more comfortable waiting. All it would take is a little bit of data (that they already have) that could easily be put on the order tracker.
Also, even if it is the minority, I would think that they would want to cater to this type of customer because we're not getting big discounts. I don't have a ton of experience buying new cars, but pre-orders are pretty much a guarantee full sticker price sale (minus company-wide promotions). Buying one off the lot leaves a lot of room for bartering and handshake deals.

Thanks. I assume the $719 includes sales taxes??

Edit: fixed typos
Ford and others have been doing customer ordered cars for decades. This is nothing new. People ordered cars and they show up a few months later without even having a website to track it.

The issue is that in 2025 we are all so accustomed to having very precise detailed tracking information for everything we order now. It’s not uncommon to even have the precise GPS location of the last mile delivery driver.

They also probably don’t want to specify exactly why certain cars are being held so people won’t reject their cars based on what the reason is.

Hello, my MMe Premium with sport package /extended battery arrived today. However, I decided pass this up for now (have two other cars one Volvo and Audi). If some one interested please contact Ford dealer, Long-Lewis Hoover, located in Hoover, AL. 35244. (Vin # 3FMTK3SxxxxxxA14351

I agree with this. I ordered a Subaru in 2001 and a Ford Fusion in 2015 both didn't have any online tracking. For the Subaru the most detailed tracking I got was that it's on the boat. For the Ford in 2015 the dealer I was working with was really good and would occasionally send updates with where it had been but nothing was available on demand and no ETA was provided.

Sales departments at car dealerships are usually not all that in to working very hard. They really just prefer to have people to walk in off the street that have no idea what they want or how to get a good deal so that they can sell them whatever they need to move for as much as they can get. I never met a car sales person that wasn't basically a lazy person. Just the gift of gab is all you really need for the job. So don't expect them to spend much time tracking down your special order. ?

The problem is that when you are buying off the lot all the sales person has to do is sell. You're in and out in a couple of hours and their on to the next person. When you order, they have to also service the sale. It's a much longer transaction for the same commission. Some sales people are good about that, most don't seem to be.

I ordered two Ford Ranger V6s back in the 1980s & 2000 when they were made in Norfolk, Va. . It took about 4 weeks to get them. My wife has ordered 2 BMW X5s 40 & 45s plug in hybrids and we got them both at 3 weeks after ordering. All were purchased at a discount and factory new.

Another delay... This time it's only a 1-day delay from 2 days ago.

So, the early ETA is now at 46 days. So maybe that's progress?

Current window is 6/28 - 7/04

I ordered 188 days ago.

Can anyone help me understand this? Our dealer and Ford customer service has been relatively useless helping us understand what is happening and where our vehicle is...or why it's so far past the ETA we were given (4 weeks ago).

No, but the tornado/hailstone rumor about the Junction Point works!
