I went to a work lunch and had to valet my car, so I had to leave my phone with them until they parked my car and brought my phone back to me. So if I know I'm going to valet, I might grab a fob. Otherwise, I'm 100% PaaK.

There’s a valet mode that works with PAAK.

I'd like to use the paak but when I do it keeps getting mine and my wife's profiles confused, which is very annoying. So don't use it anymore. Wish I could though.

Sadly, the valet mode is somewhat cumbersome to use and relies on the valet’s ability to remember or record a PIN (I believe it’s 8 digits?)

@MattG93, The process from the 21 manual. It should be the same or very similar. There are a few video out there as well, including how to do valet mode without PAAK (fob only).

I'm with the PaaK all-of-the-time club. My FOB only comes out when I need to drop the car off for service.
Haven't used the bulky FOB for years, PAAK is not 100% but close and if it screws up you always have your two codes. Really like just hitting the off button and walking away and just touching the door button when you return.

I kept a fob in a faraday bag in the car for a long time as I didn’t trust PAAK. It was well hidden and with a battery hidden elsewhere. Yeah, I stopped doing that several years ago. It’s no longer an issue with me and probably wasn’t one ever for the car.
the PaaK experience for me has been greatly improved lately (Android, Pixel 7) but i have had three instances (over ~2 years ownership) of PaaK breaking and requiring reset in order to function again. two of those happened on road trips hundreds of miles from home so i'm happy to keep one of my FOBs hidden separately from the battery in case of emergency.

also, phones break/malfunction, are stolen, lost, etc and i try not to exacerbate one disaster with another so keeping a FOB hidden as a backup is useful and doesn't cost anything. i do test my door code and backup passcode enough to be comfortable they work as well.

generally, the FOB only gets used for dropping off for maintenance, tires, etc though.

Because, they take the car to a hidden area, and wipe all surfaces with the greasy shop towels from the tire store next door before giving it back to me. ???
as long as the car comes back with a smile i don't ask questions. ?

Yep, and find me a valet who would understand how to use a valet code and be able to remember/record an 8 digit number? ?

That is such a factual, but super soft statement to make. He absolutely got there using the PaaK and had he not activated the PaaK, he would have discovered that he has the wrong fob right in his garage. The PaaK didn’t save his ass from getting stranded. It saved him walking a short distance from his garage to wherever he stores his fob at home.

Clickbait.
Yeah man, wasn't intentionally click bait, just a noob not really realizing the ins and outs of how PaaK works. I was legit worried when I saw I didn't have my fob with me. Honestly wasn't even sure I fully set it up a couple weeks ago when I got the car. I'm appreciating it now, and since reading folks' comments I've been trusting it and haven't used a fob.

Got it. I tend to be an asshole sometimes. But that’s why you weren’t stranded. PaaK is great and works well.

Used paak exclusively for two years. Stopped working to days ago. No key used password. Used fob for two days after trying paak each day. Walking by the car today with my phone, no fob, car lights up, says hello, open door start car.

The ones I’ve gone to all had pen and paper. No issues. I also use valet mode when I drop it off at the tire shop. No complaints yet.

My house key is on the FOB as well so I tend to have mine with me. Carwas? I use mine here as At the better car washes here (Russel speeders “hand” wash ) and a more deluxe standard auto wash the attendant has to drive the car onto thee belts and/or track. So
I use walk away locking . Keeping the FOB in the car prevents that.
The other scenario when you might want the FOB, you lost your phone somewhere.
What’s a house key?????
