I don't know what that means...update your PAAK.

In the car? On the phone? Where was this message?

Needed for the car? Or for the phone? What steps did you carry out to do the update?

FWIW I just checked and I do not have any message like that in FordPass.

I have 21 Job 1 as well and had the same notification within the app about updating Phone as key. Very simple process. It took like 1 minute. I don't have a screenshot, but the pop up is on top of the Ford App where your vehicle is displayed.

What does it do? Update something on your phone or is it like an OTA on the car?
It steps through deleting PAAK off phone and setting it up again. It starts by saying go in car with physical key & phone and start vehicle.

Interesting, so it deletes your keys and has you set them up again. Perhaps the security certificates for the keys were going to expire, or they have a newer process which is more secure.

by the way deleting the old PAAK cryptographic key is also a prerequisite for switching ford.com accounts in fordpass. i had my wife logged in as me on her phone but decided to make her her own account. upon trying to set up PAAK on her phone with her login, the PAAK setup would stop with error 27 (IIRC) with no further explanation. after i deleted the PAAK for her phone (from my phone) the setup then progressed properly. i guess this all might make sense but it wouldn't be a huge problem for them to check if there's a stale key hanging around before attempting to set up the new one.

we have 2 maches so whenever something goes wrong with setup or fordpass in general i can't tell if it's a corner case due to having 2 cars or not. before i realized i had to delete the old key, i had to drive the car around the corner to make sure i was out of bluetooth range of the other car. when the setup errors were happing i could see both mach-e's bluetooth connection rapidly appearing and disappearing in the iOS bluetooth configuration settings, which made me thing FP was getting confused about which car was which.

I got the same message yesterday. Deleted PAAK, deletes backup start code, gives the option for saving the personal door code. There’s no discernible reason for me to have received this notification or requirement to update PAAK.

The process required you be in the car with the fob. I got to my car and it was in full conditioning mode. Accessory mode on, ac blowing at high to full cold and all lights were on. The actual reset was painless enough, though quite unnecessary.

Is it going to require deletion and remaking of all phone keys?

Apple and Android both?

I’m on an iPhone so I can’t answer that. My guess is that this is a glitch in the FP or PAAK matrix that should not have happened. Or more realistically a certificate issue as @Mach-Lee said. There are also always things going on behind the scenes in Ford’s test fleet that may have bled over. In any event, it was a quick process.
