01/03/22 Build Week Chat

May have a little insight into this. I had a conversation with UnitedRoad and he told me every car Ford makes get its VIN put into their system, however, about 25% of them actually ship through UnitedRoad. So often times the tracking info will just sit around with nothing really attached to it. Perhaps it’s the same with the rail companies. Not sure why Ford chooses to do it that way.

Ford and their dealers is hardly unique in this practice. The Bolt EV I ordered back in 2016 was listed on my dealer’s website for several weeks before it arrived and I could buy it.

If the window sticker is available on the website, it is pretty easy to determine if they are in transit or still being produced.

See the highlighted number? That’s the date that the car was ”sent“ to the plant to be built. Actual production (assembly) happens a week or two later. If that date is less than 6 to 8 weeks ago, there’s no way the car is on the lot.

This from my window sticker, btw. My production week was 1/3/22, and the car was supposedly built 1/4/22. It has been in limbo ever since then.

In any case, so based on that information mine was sent to be built on 12/3?

I’m guessing yours is a 2021, and your build week was probably 12/13. Based on my window sticker, and when I was told my my car went to the body shop for frame assembly/painting, the car gets sent to the plant a week before it starts being assembled.

Yes sadly it is a 2021 ? build, production week of 12/6. Was hopeful since I saw y’all’s shipping that maybe just maybe mine would be as well ????
Oddly enough it was a 12/6 build, but while in production during that week it updated from 12/6 to 12/14 on the tracking. So that matches dates you were provided. Interesting

I’m stuck in limbo. I haven received a notification that it has been built or shipped. Dealer doesn’t know what is going on. Isn’t officially listed as being on a chip hold, either.

Me too. In production since 01/03. Dealer told me I’m not on chip hold. Expected delivery date is still 02/21. No idea what’s going on.

Feeling irked! After receiving both the "built" and "Shipped" checkmarks in the last two days, today they are both just bubbles and my estimated delivery date went from 2/26 to 5/27....Ford needs some pointers on customer satisfaction.

I'm a little sad to hear about the forum MME's moving into chip hold or temporarily "disappearing," but I'm more than a little happy that my SB GT is at my dealership near Richmond, VA and has started the prep process. Hopefully I drive it off the lot tomorrow evening, if not, then Friday.

And the Ford tracker updated my ETD to 5/23/22 this morning. Ugh.
