Thoughtful, sane observation. Not speaking for myself, but the folks with unfilled orders are likely all over the spectrum of "need a car soon" to "willing to wait a year". The former can soon be looking at additional EV alternatives on dealer lots. Interesting dynamic to play out over the next several months. The folks that drop their orders will allow dealers to floor more inventory.

I posted in the 12/6 builds thread yesterday that our dealer has 6 MMEs on the lot, none of which are a spec match for our order...which is good, b/c our sales guy said he'd notify us if that happened.

Another sales guy we talked to said these were all from cancelled orders, and as far as he knows, no dealer has gotten any inventory orders filled. And yes, ADM is applied.

Conspiracy theory: Dealers have their friends make orders with the intent of cancelling once the car arrives. Money in the bank!

Actually a real conspiracy amongst what I estimate to be a small minority of dealers--as it's the basis for Ford, with some dealers, requiring the dealer to photocopy the customer's driver's license upon placing a retail order.

Yes, I had to submit my license to a large dealership in Virginia.

@jonkMACHE ask your dealer to pull a VVR on your built VIN and that will verify if your MME is moving on a train and which depots it has moved through. Eventually palsapp will confirm that it has left KC on the next leg of the journey (but outside of Ford's tracking system).

Ok, just got off the phone with my dealer. They are saying according to their system the car will be on-lot at 2/8/2022. Not sure if that's from their VVR or what, but that's the date they're giving me... which pretty much correlates to Ford.com's date of 2/6/2022. Palsapp is showing nothing, but that makes sense.... if the car is arriving in Delaware by rail, I'd imagine the palsapp tracking would start on Wednesday/Thursday to get it there by Tuesday of next week.

I'm going in-person tomorrow to work on the financing so I'll post if I have any more relevant information. Will be over the moon if I actually have the car by that date.

So they were able to make just a handful of MY22 and then ran out of chips? Is that what happened?

I seem to remember from reading somewhere last year in the forum that some cars got shipped to Newark if you are close to there, so palsapp would always show pending. not sure that would be the case for the current time or for you.

just called CSX automated line and it said the car is in Ohio. midway b/w eastern seaboard and KC.

Sigh. 003372 460/630 ordered 4 June 2021.

Shows as in production since 5 January 2022, with expected delivery slipped from 1 March 2022 to 30 May 2022. Dealer insists it is on a train to California, expected at dealership 7 February 2022.

I think he looked up the wrong order. Called Ford Customer Service (800) 392-3673 who confirmed that the vehicle is on a microchip hold with expected delivery 30 May 2022.

Now more annoyed at dealer. Based upon his projection I sold stock for the down payment and got approved for a loan. The stock value will now certainly go up and the loan approval will expire before the vehicle is available.

So sorry to hear of these additional delays. Im also batch 003396, 210/303. Ordered an Iconic Silver, Premium ER RWD on 7/10/21. Converted to Iced Blue 2022 on 9/27. I just called customer service who said I was not on chip hold and I am in production (as of 1/3 or 1/12 ) with a delivery of 2/26. This is what Ford Pass is saying a well. The person was super nice (Susan) but , not surprisingly, unable to make sense of who is getting delayed or if more will be delayed.

Maybe one of the factors is how long ago you ordered. 7/10/21 is way back there (mine was 8/25/21). I don't know date of @OrchidMania original order.

Hey @ponydsp how did you learn that your car is on a CSX train and get the rail car number? Palsapp indicated that my car destined for Richmond jumped to Norfolk Southern but I have no more info since palsapp. I'm about to call my dealer for a VVR update just to know if mine is on a train.

I highly doubt you’ll have to wait that long. That date probably represents a worst case scenario. Always better to underpromise and overdeliver. I imagine they’re shipping the cars to KC where they’ll be kept on a lot until the chips come in. Realistically I’d think you’ll see a 1 month delay from your original delivery date.
