Tax credit availability news: For everyone worried about the 2022 year end loss of $3750 in tax credits due to battery sourcing materials, it looks like January & February deliveries of MMEs may not have to worry, the full $7500 in credits should be available until March 2023. NOTE: All other requirements, like NA manufacturing location, income limitations, and price caps, still go into effect.

I'm not a CPA, go ask yours if you still qualify, just passing on the news.

Isn't it the opposite? without guidance or delay of guidance wouldn't the Ford cars be ineligible until it is cleared up? since whatever is stated in the IRA would stand until clarified?

I'm probably wrong, but I read it as the US Treasury will judge EV credit availability on the rules in place at time of purchase and not factor in the parts that are undecided or unclear, specifically the battery critical minerals sourcing component. Since the US Treasury doesn't have the rule against critical minerals finalized, then we get the credit (if all the other criteria are met).

I'm interpreting like race car designers do: if the rules don't explicitly exclude it, then my modification isn't illegal (yet). We just know that (yet) is March 2023 now for the IRA EV critical mineral credit portion.

Just talked to FC: Transit, Shipped Rail - Railcar # TTGX853284 (Norfolk Southern Corp) and currently located in Ramp 6U, Muncie, KS with an ETA of Dec-26-2022.

Yeah, contact the GM, Camron, at WC Ford and he will get you a VinView update. He should keep you updated with any progress after that as he receives it.
Thanks! The dealer provided a VinView screenshot showing the train with my car was in Clovis, NM as of 5 pm PT last night. VinView ETA is 12/24. Fingers crossed!

Thanks! The dealer provided a VinView screenshot showing the train with my car was in Clovis, NM as of 5 pm PT last night. VinView ETA is 12/24. Fingers crossed!
I’ll be super excited for you if that ETA holds up! Just in case you haven’t been obsessing in this forum for months like most of us, however, I must tell you that cars are sitting in Richmond for at least a week or more. I’m in the same boat as you so I’m hoping they figure out a way to move cars out of there more quickly.

starting to think about punting, delaying into 2023 and trying to get a line on a route 1 to compensate for the loss of the tax credit.

I'm glad I was wrong. This is good news.
having said this, things really dried up this past week. i think there were only 2 MMEs delivered in the last 7 days, vs. like 20 in the 2 weeks prior. not sure what's going on but there must have been some kind of rail bottleneck. i know my car unexpectedly sat in bakersfield for almost a week.

Yeah, I’ve made by intention clear to the dealership. I’m not the guy that’s going to miss a $7500 tax credit by three days. That’s insane to me. As I’ve said, after Jan 1, I feel that time is on my side.

GAH - I'm trying not to get discouraged. I don't know how all of this works, but I hope the upcoming holiday doesn't create more of a delay and a shortage of truck drivers, etc. for getting our cars to the dealers.
