Actually tires are another good example.
Hang around the tire store and see just how long some folks wait.

Plenty of folks believe if it's still holding air....... Why waste the money? ?

Well, mine just died today after 42mos and 55k miles with zero warning. The battery should be perfectly healthy. I charge regularly and drive almost daily. But nope. And the 12v dying on this car is a serious pain in the ass. Hard to even find a replacement.

So I have a question on this 12 V battery on the electric Mustang. I understand how to set up my tester for the 2012 Mustang I have, cold cranking amps and such. So I understand this being an AGM battery in the electric car, I ran the battery test. I only selected 590 cranking amps cause I don’t believe this thing Has a rating? Anyways, here is a screenshot of what it did after the car sat one day is this concern or can you not use that tester per se on this car? right now I’m charging the battery.

Ford Mustang Mach-E 12V Battery Replacement IMG_9702
An update, I actually was looking at a replacement factory OEM and the problem was the cold cranking amps, if I entered wrong CCA will make it fail so according to the Ford battery is 380 cold cranking amps so this time the battery said good battery.

Ha, I was just posting that the specs listed for CCA was wrong. Glad that it ends up you don't need to replace. Curious, how does that tool connect to your battery to run the check?
These are the actual specs, pulled from Mach Lee's exc 12v faq thread. It apparently has 380 CCA.

Part number: BHAGM-H3
35 Amp-hours, 380 CCA, 60 RC, 27 lbs
H3 size (175mm x 175mm x 190mm) L x W x H

Actually, those holes that I cut in the covers to get to the negative and the positive battery post, I just hooked it up to the positive then to the negative it will tell you if you don’t have it connected securely or not and once it’s connected securely, it’ll say battery test and then you pick the type of battery and then you go down The list of cold cranking amps, and because I was just assuming and did not know that’s why it showed the cold cranking amps in the 300s and it showed the bottom cranking cold amps at the higher number because that’s the number I put in there but once I figured out it was 380 that’s why the battery is good because now there’s enough Amperage I guess for cranking lol. Also, after you get done with that, you can do the cranking test where it will tell you that it’s good and then you actually start the motor and it shows the results of that I just didn’t know for sure how to do it on electric car but I did it on the gas. Mustang works good not not expensive tool at all.

Yes the spec is 380 CCA. Keep in mind that type of tester does not tell the whole story. A battery can pass the cranking amps test and still be bad. EVs don’t really use cranking amps, it’s more about capacity.

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking on the cold cranking. I just wanted to do the battery test to see if I got that good or bad battery thank you. I’m gonna put it on the scanner here in a minute after I’ve had it on the charger all day so.

I have a $25 battery tester I bought on Amazon. On my ICE vehicles I test the batteries every oil change and replace when they are reduced to 75% of whatever they tested at when installed. I plan to check the EV battery every 6 months and replace with the same criteria. Since I have been doing that I haven’t had to jump start anything.

I was trying to find it in this thread, and I was wondering even if it’s at 100% right now I’ve still got it plugged into the charger. Will that charge the 12 V battery even though the car is completed it’s charge?

It's my understanding that the 12 v battery will not be charged if the HV battery is not being charged. It will charge when you drive it.
I don't store my car at a 100% charge, so if it's at 100% it will be driven soon.
Since you have access to the battery posts, it seems a better option would be to connect a battery maintainer to the 12v battery to extend the life of it.
I have two trucks with batteries that are over 10 years old because battery maintainers are connected to them continuously while they are parked in the barn.

I only charged it to 100% because it was already at 75 and I want to see if while charging the vehicle it charges to 12 V battery that was about all but with Car Scanner app it no longer lets you see the percentage of the battery for some reason I don’t know why they took that feature away Now all you can do is see the voltage of it unless it’s hidden in there I haven’t found it. I’ll just put my maintainer on it if I’m not driving that much.

Car Scanner shows 12v voltage just fine.
