Hello all!
I have a 2021 Mach-E AWD select, and have had it since February this year. I have been having intermittent recurring problems related to the charging of this car. I first had problems with this car giving me powertrain malfunction and high-voltage battery warnings, and when I took it into the dealer, they told me to stop charging at the charge point chargers at work (my only easy option at the time, but I’ve since installed my own charger at home). They also said if I charge at L3 chargers, I might have the same issue. But - when I’d get these errors, it was never during charging or even the day of charging, so I found it unlikely that it was the brand of charger, but I went along with it anyway. Issues still kept happening, even when discontinuing ChargePoint chargers. Eventually, I found a pattern where I’d drive the car in the morning, park it in an open parking lot during the heat of the day, and when I’d come back to it and turned it on - the same errors. So, I took it back to the dealer and they narrowed it down to some battery components/modules, but they need an active error to be able to diagnose and order the correct modules. They were never able to, so they gave the car back and said they’d work on getting some software to diagnose the parts without needing errors present. Until then, they said the car is still safe to drive. Fast forward to now - I’m at an L3 charger on a road trip, my only charging option, and now I have all of these errors again and have a charge rate of 10kW.
I feel like it might be the HVJB issue that other models have, but I don’t know how to confirm this. I don’t know if the dealership checked but I assumed they did because of the recalls for other years/trims (I realize I shouldn’t have assumed that now). I also don’t want to be limited to only some L2 chargers and L1 chargers as I thought this car was supposed to support all levels of charging - I bought it thinking that, but maybe I’m mistaken. Any help/advice is appreciated, thanks!
