It's still all about the chips. They have lots of other models waiting as well, so I guess time will tell how this goes. Anything is possible.

Highly unlikely in the case of anyone who already has a VIN assigned since the VIN is tied to a model year.

Ford has already stated that 21s will be produced through October and into November, with clean-up production in November, change-over to 22 production in November, and 22 production starting in December.

My 2021 VIN GT-PE was originally scheduled for a 9/27 production week. That has been postponed into a 10/4 production week, so I know that at the very least the first week of October will see 2021 production. I have seen a few people post that their orders for 2021s were scheduled for the week of 10/11 as well.
Correct. I think what he's saying is if your vehicle does not have a production date assigned by the end of the month, it will be a 2022. If you have a date for October, November, December already it will be a 2021.

For example, if you placed your order in August, it's very likely you will not be in the production phase by the end of the month. For example, I only have is the Dealer Accepted check mark. My car will be a 2022 because unless some miracle happens I will not be assigned a production date by the end of the month.

My production date just got changed from 10/4 to week of 10/11. Heres to hoping i get a 2021 before 2022.
Oddly enough, I had the exact opposite change - 10/11 build week changed to 10/4, at about the same time.

Or maybe it's not that odd - perhaps they shuffle cars back and forth for efficient batching, and a week or two in either direction is no big deal.

What I don’t understand is why they would let my early Sept 2021 order go thru as a 2021 when there is no way they will get it built before the end of the year therefore automatically making this a 2022.

lousy planning and customer relations and not very efficient. They should have shut down 2021 already since they have so many orders delayed and just let people order 22’s for the last month or two or three.

I just assume those would all be converted into 22s for anything not schedule for production this month. I really can't see them releasing my gtpe in feb/mach (estimated by the 28weeks) to be a 2021. nor does it make sense.

Fords just seems to be overwhelm and have no idea what they are doing with orders. lol.

I think it's because it's software on a website. Someone has to actually deploy the 2022 code/configuration and all that and until that's done, no point in removing what's there. That's just time/work/$$ that will have to be redone again.

Ideally, they should have a process/plan in mind already and we all hope they do. Cancelling hundreds/thousands of orders and telling everyone to now get back in line and re-order is certainly a very bad consumer experience.

I'd guess any half brained person should think that if you're getting a 2022, something should trigger and you should/could possibly just go back in and reorder and the 2022 will now replace your 2021 'configuration', but your order # stays the same.

Dealer told me after I asked a few questions that they will do reorder for 2022 if it won’t be a 2021. Still, very inefficient. If you know how many cars you produce or can produce by the end of the year and the orders you have are more than that, you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to know cars are going to go into 2022. So why keep 2021 open, they have hundreds if thousands of people handling their software. Ford just needs to be more proactive

How long after submitting order does one get a production date or VIN

I found a Premium ER AWD at a dealer nearby (the model I wanted) but it’s listed on their website for $4k over MSRP.

Should I try to get it at MSRP or wait for the 2022?

This is at Ford Mahwah (NJ).
I don’t know how much the MME will change in 2022 so deciding if I should try to get this one or wait.

I don’t know if Ford would do this, but I’ve heard that Tesla sometimes rescinds a previously assigned VIN and gives the customer a new VIN. I don’t know if Ford might do that here, i.e. void the out-of-time 2021 VINs and give new 2022 VINs for pending builds, but my point is even a VIN is not set in stone if it’s for a vehicle that does not yet exist.

I was there around 12:15pm today. Test drive the Select they have on the lot. TheY do have the Premium but it was not on the lot because someone took it for a weekend test drive. I told them I would come do a deal today if they sold it at MSRP but no luck. I spoke with Bob and he said this was 1 of 3 Premium AWD ER in a 50 mile radius.

Take a look at the Ford website and you can see what’s available and where
