2023 delivered with PowerUp 4.x

My 2023 with a build date of June 2023 was delivered (in August 2023) with Power-Up 4.x. I received a small 'adjustment' to 4.2.3 around September 19th, but nothing since then. I contacted Ford Support yesterday (10/18) and was told there were no updates pending for my VIN. I understand that there is a roll-out and not everyone gets the same updates at the same time time, but I'm getting concerned that something is wrong since I'm so far behind.

To add to this, the update status after turning on the car initially says that 4.2.3 is "Not Completed", but switches to 'Completed" after a minute or so. This happens every time the car is started and makes me think something might be going on, preventing further updates due to the "Not Completed / Completed" toggling. I explained this to the Ford rep yesterday but they seemed disinterested in that part. Any suggestions?

My suggestion is to stop worrying about it and just enjoy the car. Is there a specific feature that you're waiting for?

It says “Not Completed” on every Mach e when you initially start it up. Once it gets a connection to the internet, it becomes “Conpleted”

to see if you're actually behind you can ask in the FDRS thread to have your car VIN checked.

It appears your car was produced near the end in the 2023 job 1 run so you are probably mostly up to date except for the most recent 5.1.1 then 6.x rollout which you'll get in due time.

as noted above, the toggling of installed state on startup is normal - it's just part of the boot up process.

Something to keep in mind as a new owner, not every car gets every OTA update. The numbers associated with OTA updates are not version numbers, just reference numbers. Update can be delivered out of order, they are not cumulative. Lastly, your car shipped with more up to date software than other cars that have been out for 2 years, so they may be getting updates just to bring their car up to the same level yours shipped with.

My ‘23 Premium came to me early June. I got a few updates quickly that seemed older, then got 4.3.x. Nothing for a month until 5.1.1, then a week ago I got 6.1.0. Not every build will need every update.

We bought our 2023 at the end of July and it was at the dealer for a week in late Sept/early Oct due to several issues. When we got it back it had 4.2.2.2. This week on Monday (10/16) we finally got 5.1 whatever. On Tuesday we got 6.1 whatever. Still have not gotten the most recent ones but updates do finally seem to be coming through.

Thanks everyone for replying. I feel better about the "Not Completed/Completed" toggling now knowing that it's normal behavior! I'm not looking for a particular feature. As a long time computer computer guy, I like to stay as current as possible with software updates. I do realize that this can come with upsides and downsides though I'll take the common denominator answer which seems to be have more patience. I'm totally loving the car and having no issues. Thanks for all of your seasoned advice!

I do have a funny story to contribute. I stopped at a local a strip style shopping area with a dozen or so stores and restaurants to pick up some takeout. I parked nose in to the sidewalk running along the storefronts. As I was getting back into my car, a woman, maybe late 30's to early 40's walked by slowly, looking at my car. She passed it and then came back looking at me in the drivers seat and the front of the car. I could tell she wanted to say something, so I rolled the window down. She stayed more or less in front of the car glancing back and forth between me and the car. Then she asked, "Why doesn't your car have a grill?" I answered by telling her it was electric, had no "engine" and didn't need a grill but had front louvers that opened and closed as needed to help cool the battery as needed. She replied that she had "never seen one before" and moved on. I just thought it was funny that she noticed that there wasn't a grill and was curious enough to ask ask about it. She must have had some hands on or other experience with ICE cars to notice or care!

My 2023 had 4.2.1 when I first purchased in July, then 4.2.3 as my first gateway update I believe. After that almost a month before a few 4.2.x updates before jumping to 5.1.1 and then right to 6.1.0.

I think the general conclusion on this forums is numbers and release notes are meaningless. It's likely most of your modules already had the latest updates so it will skip a few.

My 2023 got 4.2.3 just last week, and previously was sitting on 4.2.1 for more than a month.
I wonder how people were in 5.x and 6.x since summer, and what it takes to expedite the rollouts?

There's no pattern that I can tell. I just got the very (not) exciting 4.2.4 on 10/29. Can't wait to see what, 4.3?
