As of right now (I just checked) the updates are still not available. If the dealer said they installed it today, then they lied or they installed the May version, which is not the recall.

It's kinda impossible to install something that's not available.
I just got the OTA offered so that would suggest the updates are available to some at least. I don't know how the OTA side relates to the FDRS side of course.

I am scheduled to take our GT in this Friday 7/15 due to a "Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power" that popped up a couple weeks ago as soon as the wife started the car in the morning. She shut it down and restarted and the message has not appeared since. Anyway, I heard about the software update that could help should the HVBJB issue arise so I was going to ask them install any updates available.

When I first heard about the recall I went to the Ford site and checked for recalls on my vin and the site found nothing. Can someone check my vin to see what updates are available:
3FMTK4SE1MME02986

Will I be wasting my time if I take my car in on Friday and should I reschedule?
There's really no reason to run the VIN right now since the update is still not showing in the system. I would bet that everything will be there on Friday so I think you should keep that appointment if you want to get it installed. As a side note, this software has nothing to do with what your wife experienced.

Yeah that seemed like a "glitch" to me. I read the thread on the recall and I understand the software update is more of an "early warning" and puts the car in limp mode rather than possibly leaving you stranded, if I understand that correctly.

okay, so, the recall wasn't pulled, it's still moving forward as an OTA. So I think we can move past all of the "recall was pulled" bit once and for all.

Correct. It doesn't fix the hardware, it just tells you that it's going bad before it goes bad.

Yes, on the main page I said it was still rolling out via OTA. But it's still unavailable in FDRS. So while not pulled, it's also not available to install at a dealer or by an owner. This because of a server issue rather than it being "pulled" on purpose.

in FDRS. I'm installing as an owner right now through an OTA, which is how most people will do it, I bet.

ok, so there you go then, all of this heartburn over FDRS was ultimately a lot of assumption and speculation over nothing.
I think you're missing the point. There's still a bunch of issues I think this caused. We have confirmed that a few people had the wrong update installed and cleared out of the recall system.

Just because OTA's work doesn't mean there's not heartburn in other regards.

 I know I can just reuse my pitchfork, but I burned some expensive torch fuel getting ready to join the mob.

I guess investigating an issue, providing proof to that issue and keeping the main thread honestly updated with latest news is now considered mob rule, speculative and assumptive.

The fanboys are out in force today. I'm off ?
