Objection - speculation! Lol, yet he's going on to now speculate non-stop and trash people like yourself looking out for others.
You know what? You're absolutely right. You win. I take it all back.

Clearly, 18 pages of posts talking about a recall being recalled, and what a mess it was, was a productive use of everyone's time.

You don't have to worry. I won't post about things I discover anymore. You're right - It's a waste of my time.

The threads about loosing range are clearly more productive and worthy.

I guess not much comprehending was done in the 17 pages? For one, you're differentiating between "dealer FDRS" and "self-installed FDRS" which is the same thing.
no, those are critically different, because as others on this very thread have stated, when they as owners install, it doesn't flip the bit. At least, that's what I believe I read, but I will fully admit if I misunderstood that. Dealer doing the installation flipped the bit, as I understood what was being said, through another system, outside of FDRS, that they are able to touch. Is that right?

I for one appreciate all of the informed information shared here. It is certainly more than we get from FMC. So please, all of you informed souls please keep at it and do not become disheartened by unjust criticism.

Ok y'all... Fun is over.

The updates aren't available due to a server side error. Ford is working to restore their functionality. No time frame has been given for resolution.

This is confirmed from Ford and I was okayed to release that information.
i think this is cover for "our software was overly sensitive picking up hvbjb faults, need to give you new software"

According to some, that never happened. It was all a dream.

that sucks for sure, and it puts you into one of three cases.

Given what @DevSecOps said earlier about it being a server-side issue (which I'm taking his word for, there's no reason to doubt it), and that it's rolling out OTA again, and given that we know historically that OTAs understand things being done in FDRS (because this is not the first time people do things in FDRS that later come in OTAs), there's every reason to believe that you will have it available to you at some future time. That is speculation, based on evidence to this point, without reading into motive on Ford's side.

I guess investigating an issue, providing proof to that issue and keeping the main thread honestly updated with latest news is now considered mob rule, speculative and assumptive.

The fanboys are out in force today. I'm off ?
There is value in surfacing the issue with FDRS, especially for those who were in for the update at a dealer and got something besides the update.

Updating the first post as more was known was also valuable.

Where the thread spiraled, quickly, on the other hand... I don't know what the right answer is to striking a balance b/w surfacing useful "breaking" information as it develops against the chaos that can follow even when that surfacing is measured. As a society we haven't figured that out either :).

As for myself I like these threads for both the information and the speculation. There certainly was something going on but right from the start it was stated to be unknown. That was good information along with the info for owners who thought they received updates. Speculation, and I can certainly tell the difference, is kind of enjoyable to me. I certainly left my pitchfork in the greenhouse and did not head for the hardware store for torch oil. (I did try to get my wife to retire two months early though before the crowds attack the Ford dealer where she works) Now if we were surgeons or an electric grid dispatcher or a 911 operator I would not like decisions to be based on speculation. But for a on-line forum I think it is to be expected and many times informed members can provide accurate info to those speculating. Now I have to get back to watching my mail box as I am expecting a check from Publishers Clearing House any day now!

I try to have some grace for companies that struggle while attempting to do the right thing. But as someone who had to jump-my-frunk and tear apart trim panels in the cold/dark due to my MMe’s failure to charge the 12v battery, I can tell you it’s easy to lose confidence in your car. Reading all this gives me confidence-PTSD.…..

I just got the OTA offered so that would suggest the updates are available to some at least. I don't know how the OTA side relates to the FDRS side of course.
Still waiting for any of the 2.8's here. Do you know if they need to be installed prior to the recall? If that is the case I am most likely looking at some time early next year?
