Because the button to shrink the screen isn’t present in the marketing videos either.

Yes, no view addresses that. And not a fan of the other view as it doesn’t provide as much view as what’s ahead as did the other orientation in half screen.

Thank you!! The new tiled Home Screen view is awful. The map being horizontal means the amount of the screen that’s actually used for the navigation is smaller than in the old “small” view. Now this isn’t 100% Ford’s fault, Apple should re-design car play to better handle large portrait screens, but they haven’t yet. Until then Ford shouldn’t have removed the option to switch. Never mind the fact that the tiles at the bottom are basically useless now.

I am thrilled with the change. I never used the big tiles as I never wanted a smaller CarPlay area. More, I need more area for CarPlay.

I truly wonder if this is prepping for the “full CarPlay” that was announced at the iOS keynote, where it fully integrates with the car and allows you to control HVAC, IPC, etc.

That would be amazing if that was coming, but I don’t see them implementing that in anything short of a total refresh.

Apple at fault here too since they could have a toggle to switch between sizes, why don’t you use the other CarPlay view where it’s horizontal along the top?

This is EXACTLY my issue with this. I use the map for traffic mostly, not directions. I know where I am going but, it is nice to see ahead when traffic is slowing down.

I don't know. People have preferences. You don't have to like them, it's just another option. You'd be surprised at the questions that get posted on here that have easy answers. Maybe calm the hell down?

I’m reading through threads and worried that my screen may be stuck in full screen mode.

This may be what people refer to as portrait mode. Unfortunately, there isn’t an option to shrink this up. I’m not a fan of this mode as the CarPlay icons are now at the bottom and not close to eye level when I want to change things. Also, for navigation I’m forced to look lower than I’d like.
Is there anyway to switch this to the half-screen mode? I’ve searched all the menus and am going crazy.

'23 and up will never know that it's an issue.

Just got the 4.1.2 and I can’t get my USB audio back on. AM radio and Sirius work but the USB icon only brings up AM. I am still trying to tunnel thru the menus so might ge more frustrations.
