Has anyone else had trouble getting the 4.2.5 update to install?

I've tried both to manually do it and to let it update at its set time, but I am consistently getting a failure. FordPass tells me the update has failed to install seven times.

I've done the normal stuff like plugging it in, charging the battery to ensure the 12v is also charged, etc. I have no check engine lights or anything. I have previously been able to get all OTA updates without issue.

The only longstanding update-related problem my Mach-E has is the handsfree Bluecruise update never worked, and I still need to go into a dealership to try and get it enabled. So I suppose if some Bluecruise related module is trying to update, that might be the source of failure? The patch notes only mention an HVAC heating update.

Anyway, anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions? I just want to reiterate that I have done the low-hanging fruit stuff (battery is charged, car is plugged in, car is parked in an area with great reception, and so forth).

I can check and see why it failed with you VIN. Most common cause of failed OTAs is 12V battery not being full enough. 4.2.5 is also an inhibit update, so there are some additional entry conditions. If you have the old UI still, your APIM software may not be capable of coordinating an inhibit update (you won't have the ability to schedule it).

Mine was the battery. Drove 20 miles roundtrip, and it immediately applied it.

Well just kidding, you have an odd error I haven't really seen before while trying to enter inhibit. I'm not sure what's causing it. A couple ideas. First if you're on WiFi when you're trying to do the update, don't be (forget the network in the Mach-E or do the update in an outside parking lot). There were some past communication glitches with the server, best to let things happen over LTE. Second, I recommend changing your update settings to the default:

Also, you have a software failure in your power steering module (PSCM). That could be causing an issue with inhibit as well. You should really have a dealer update the PSCM software in hopes of correcting that error.

Thanks Lee. To Rick's point, I did drive it for some time today on the way to work. At my house, it was connected to wifi, but I deliberately parked outdoors today where there is a clear signal and I'm not on any wifi, and I got the same error after trying to update.

I'll try resetting my update settings to the default.

Thanks also for letting me know about the PSCM. I have a list of things I have to try and get the dealer to do (Bluecruise fix, second key fob, beg for driver screen replacement), I will add this to the list. Off the top of your head, any chance this PSCM error could be related to my handsfree Bluecruise issue?

Yeah it's not going to allow any lane centering or hands-free operation with that error active due to concern for safety. BlueCruise has a lot of integrity monitoring and entry conditions.

Got it, that explains why I have never had handsfree Bluecruise, this error code must have been there for like a year then.
