So I just got a 22 MME Premium AWD ER, and LOVE it! A few weeks ago (before I got my MME) my brother let me borrow his Model 3 Dual Motor for a week while he was out of town, and the neck snapping acceleration was INSANE. Now I had it in my head that the MME Premium AWD would be similar - maybe not as fast, but similar - to the M3 but I gotta admit I was a slightly dissappointed. There is absolutely a delay to the acceleration, and it doesn't climb in speed as fast. I later looked up the HP ratings and it totally makes sense, the M3 is like 400 something HP and the MME 266.

Now to be clear I LOVE this car, it is WAY cooler looking than a Tesla, and currently is more "rare" on the road. I also didn't buy it to be a race car, but after experiencing the M3 acceleration, I kinda had that bar in my head to what an EV would be like.

So....for those with the GT vs a Premium, is it closer to the M3 Dual Motor? I have a 2023 GT on order that I'm keeping my order to test drive, but struggling to want to pay $5k+ for a slightly faster MME with some trim/interior when the Premium is so nice as is.

Just curious thanks!

I 100% agree folks on the streets do NOT need more than 5 seconds. The GTPE has insane acceleration.

Sadly, Ford marketed the GT as a trackable EV and it's not. It's a joke. It needs to drop 800lbs. It needs a proper working track mode (not the broken mess than is Unbridled Extend). It needs a more robust HVBJB also. Probably needs to move to 800V to prevent component overheating.

Every time I see an ad of a Mach-E on a track... I have to laugh.

I'm happy to be back in a Premium and not a fake-trackable car.

Yes. The GT/GTPE accelerates faster than the M3LR. The Model 3 Performance is a notch above the GTPE though.

The GTPE has a nicer interior than the Premium for sure. Especially the seats and steering wheel.

The problem with the Mach-E is that it is heavy. 600+ lbs more than the Model 3 so on the track it slides around like a ice cream truck. On the streets and highways... it's amazing. The MagneRide keeps the car planted.

Thanks for that response. I'll have to test drive the GT when it comes in. Who knows, maybe if they give me a good enough trade in, I can somehow justify upgrading.... but if not, I'm already so happy with the Premium.

The acceleration is insane on the GT. You immediately notice the torque/power and makes your AWD ER(I own one now) slow. It's faster than the M3LR and Model Y easily... for the first 5 seconds... but seriously you are at 80-90mph at that point and breaking many speed limits.

See, and there lies the dilemma right, and the point of this thread. Is it worth the money for that extra power, when it's limited (albeit to a crazy speed anyways). We'll see how the cards fall when it arrives. I jumped on this Premium to ensure the tax credit this year, and the GT is scheduled to be built in November of this year, so technically possible it arrives this year...thanks again for your response. But i notice you are back in a Premium. What was the rationale there? Just wasn't worth the extra cost of the GT with the limitations for you?

1) Speeding tickets. My insurance just spiked 50% and part of it was due to the violations and other half was due to inflation + Hurricane Ian.

2) Unbridled Extend (track mode) is terrible. Barely worked at Daytona in the two times I took my GTPE there. Not ready for prime time so I'm looking at a i4 M50 as a track car but with my insurance rates so high... I may only be able to justify it if the M50 is my daily and I buy a beater SUV for hauling hobby stuff around.

The 5 second thing never bothered me. I noticed I could let go of the accelerator and re-stomp on it and it would provide power again.

if you really want to have some fun at a track, for cheap, try Karting!

Out of curiosity, how many speeding tickets did you get that triggered that increase?
Just got my first one (and it’s a big one), not looking forward to insurance renewal. ?

The GT/GTPE acceleration is much much stronger than the standard MME. Much faster off the block than the standard MYLR as well if we're comparing the same class of cars. Even compared to the M3LR, it will feel faster especially the 0-60. The thing pulls and will shove you back in your seat. I legit had neck pain after my first day with it and now I tend to push myself back in the seat before I'm hitting the accelerator hard to avoid a whiplash.

The MYP is similar off the block but does pull more after the 5 second hit comes in however at that point you're not going at street legal speeds anyways in most parts of the US. I do think the driving dynamics/handling of the GT/GTPE are much better than MYP. Also, in terms of interior, fit/finish and looks, the MachE is miles ahead compared to other EVs.

I think the GT upgrade is worth it not just for the performance but the thing looks much better and everyone complements the lighted Pony during the night.

We KNOW Ford can do it (Lightning weighs way more, more power, and no limit).

Now will they? The more time that passes the less likely they will.

At this point, zero incentive for Ford to make the 2021 vehicles faster. In fact there is a financial disincentive to.

IF they get rid of it at this point it’ll only be because of;

1. Class action lawsuit

or

2. New model year change. Get us to trade in our 2021 on a faster 2024.

Honestly shocked #1 hasn’t happened. They did not and STILL haven’t fully disclosed the limit.

How much horsepower does it have after the limit? NO FRIGGIN CLUE! Ford won’t tell us!!

Yep, there is no incentive to fix it. A fix would be expensive, not including Re-engineering costs. Gen1 cars will never see a fix. If they do fix it, it will be for whenever Gen2 comes out. Even then, they may not and continue the deception. ?‍♂?

Pfff, it's a Station Wagon, I'm looking all over for some fake wood grain stickers and the fake plastic wood trim to 'Clark' it up good...
I can just imagine the gas station scene where he can't figure out where to put the gas, but sub in the Mach E:
(six hours later after tearing apart the whole car)
"Where the (bleep) does the (bleep) gas go?!?!?!"

This is a good point. they really should’ve used more of the Lightning engineering on the MME. it’s not as if the pickup is massively more expensive that they couldn’t have made the MME GT as robust. The ER Lightning has 580 Hp and 775 lb/ft of torque. So with a smaller battery of the MME GTPE it should easily handle the 480 HP and 648 lb/ft of torque. No limits, no welded connectors.

More importantly though it would’ve prevented the fatal issue with the HVBJB and improved the relatively poor charging curve.

Not sure if it'll work in NJ. But in California, the court just want your money. Get a traffic attorney (cost about $300 or less). They will plead your case down to a non moving violation. You pay the same fine, but no points or insurance bump.

My wife got a ticket for speeding, it was pleaded down to "not obeying traffic sign" what apparently is a non moving violation. Paid fine, and no points.
