Sorry...off topic...but...
And while we're on the subject of the GUI....can anyone explain why the climate control section exists on the touchscreen? That bottom section might as well have been physical controls because it never changes. It would be nice if that space could be swapped in for something else (like stats or other information) when I'm not actively needing to adjust the climate settings. The great thing about touchscreens as a UI is that they can adapt...they are not fixed. Use it that way.
100% agree. I would replace the max defrost button with a trunk button in a heartbeat. I think it's helpful to have it to the left of steering wheel so that you can reach it while standing in the doorway or reaching through the window. It can't hurt to also have it on the touchscreen, but down by the light knob would be perfect. I find that if I'm standing in the doorway...I just walk to the back of the car and kick my foot under the car to open the trunk, so it's not too bad (but luckily I have the kick option - I guess pressing the button on the door is not much harder).First, there’s a reason every car I’ve ever owned, except the Mach E, had a physical trunk button. Because it’s important for the driver to “pop the trunk” from behind the wheel. So yeah, the average person wants it. And yet Ford replaced the trunk button with a max defrost button, even though that’s already on the fixed climate control section of the SYNC screen. Two one-tap methods for max defrost. Zero one-tap method for the trunk.
Agreed...it's a control not a setting. And I don’t need to be an expert UI designer to point out that the trunk button is not a setting. Because it isn’t. When my son says “yo dad, pop the trunk!” I don’t say “sure, let me just change that setting.”
