At some point after a recent update, I lost the ability to have the default target charging level be 85% - which I could then change in the app to 100% when needed.

Am I missing it in the setting somewhere?

Mine is still set to 85%. It shows the option to charge to 100% when you tap details on the charging status bar near the bottom of the app screen.

There has never been an option to set a default charge level below 100%. It has to be set separately for each charging location.

I believe that is what he meant. Delete your charge location, charge your car a bit, then re-save your location. Many members have mentioned they lost a saved location after an update. Hope this works for you.

That makes more sense! I will try and confirm.

I recently decided to charge to 100% because I was going on a trip. I had to do it in FordPass. It used to be in the car settings.
