What in the world is the trick to get this dang A Pillar reattached!?!?!!

I only pulled off 2 clips thankfully, but I can’t for the life of time get them put back in.

Some what got it attached, but it’s not pulled snuggly like it should be. I’ve taken apart so many trims, and this one is a pain in the ass. The clips are flimsy as all hell and the attachment plates are just as flimsy.

Should had just pulled the seal and just dealt with trying to fish the wire behind.

It feels like the panel slid up a little, but I’ve pushed it down with a decent amount of force and it’s not even budged.

Make sure that the bottom of the trim, where the vent is, properly slid into the receptacle and that the trim piece along the right side (if on passenger side) is correctly aligned with the vertical trim piece as in my 3rd picture in the link I posted.

The newer A-Pillar trims are a PITA because they are 2 stage. During an airbag deployment the trim is supposed to release enough to allow the bag to fill the cabin without slingshotting the trim into someone's face. This makes those clips much more difficult to work with. Almost all modern cars that I've worked on are much more difficult now vs those of years past without A pillar airbags.

As a side note, I believe the OP has me ignored (from a previous thread stating as much) so he probably doesn't even see my posts to him. Oh well ?‍♂ .

Take the clips off of the A pillar and attach them first to the trim, then attach the trim to the pillar.

See my comment on this issue here: https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...a-dashcam-and-radar-detector.5542/post-262345

And the post here: https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...-dashcam-and-radar-detector.5542/#post-157999

BTW there's only 2 clips and as I mentioned it's best to remove the trim entirely instead of just trying to get wires/whatever behind it.

My guess is it shows up as a blank message.
I just tried it by ignoring you (temporarily of course - I would never be able to ignore someone who has a cat as a profile pic) and it removes everything completely that would be from that person including quotes. Just replaces it with nothing and all your messages disappeared completely. It's as if you don't exist.

I was so confused....

Thank You @DevSecOps for helping even though you knew I had put you on ignore. I don't even remember why I ignored you, but I know I did it when I was at work and in a real pissy mood lol

So my apologies, and again thank you for being the bigger man and still helping a brother out :)

All that said, I had thought about pulling the whole thing off, but I would not had thought about removing the clips. I knew there was a post on here where someone was complaining about how hard it was to get the A Pillar back on. I 100% forgot about till 30 minutes in trying to get the damn clips to go in lol I was getting so incredibly frustrated!!

I'll have to take it apart tomorrow and try taking it fully off and trying your tip.

Well, we were having a bit of fun trying to figure out how to get that info to you. Ignore lists are a odd thing. I used to use it, on occasion, to shorten threads so I could make an answer without all the “distractions.” Yeah that didn’t work well as I forgot to unignore people that I’d placed on that list, including one person on this thread. Now I just use the scroll method of ignoring. Mostly.

Hope the trim replacement works out for you.

It happens... I know if there's ever a shortage of scrubby bubbles I can go to San Diego and pick some up. I was always concerned about that right behind nuclear fallout!

Was still a little of a pain in the butt, but that did the trick, panel is now up and looking the way it should! Thanks!!

On a side note, I was going to try and hardwire my Cellink Neo but I chickened out because I don't have that Mini III fuse tap... I pulled the fuse that was there and just did not feel confident in putting in a Mini II. Not to mention I still need to feed the camera to the back, think paying someone would be well worth just having that done lol

I'll just end up taking it to the shop and have a professional do it. Feel a little like a punk, I know I could do it, I just don't want too lol
