I have my Departure time #1 Set at the time I leave my house in the am. I use the Second tome to change when my departure times change. Takes about 1 min. It's not the big of a deal.

I have a thought - and I’m not being cynical - I’m simply fed up with Ford’s inability to provide a current interface on EVERY aspect. It’s 2024 - not 2004!

Not sorry if this offends anyone - this simply a realistic observation and comment.

Ford needs to provide a ā€˜Precondition Now’ button. Click and done!!! This isn’t a revelation - it’s just common sense.

ā€˜Only takes a minute’ is not acceptable - what App do you use that it ā€˜only takes a minute’ do you use! Answer: NONE!

and if you are spontaneously leaving, you don’t have only a minute.

has anyone with an objective view at Ford ever use their products? This is your Flagship EV - put resources into improvements!!!!!

Yes, ford should work on implementing on demand pre-condition button in the app/car.
It clearly make the car lot more efficient.

Not everyone lives a robotic life where they can forecast departure time for the whole week.

Ignoring the long trips with a need to drive pretty far to reach next charging point, but for regular daily trips of 50-100 miles, what is the point of preconditioning?
I have been wondering the same thing too. My understating is the battery produces more juice and takes charge easier at a warmer temperature, but as long as I have enough range to begin with and wouldn't need charge on the road is it necessary to precondition the battery?

You're in Florida, so I doubt it gets cold enough for you to need preconditioning.

Much different story up here where you need preconditioning to have decent acceleration, range, and heat.

This morning as I was unlocking car by ā€˜phone and saw a ā€œStartā€ button here where shown in attached but now it’s disappeared.

It may well have been present whilst car was plugged in to charge point.

Is this the pre-condition on demand everybody’s been mithering on about?

All that start button does is ā€œstartā€ charging again once the target charge has been reached. You will only see it when it’s plugged in and not charging.

Wow! 300 miles at 94%. I’ve got extended range and even in summer don’t see that range. . And I drive pretty conservatively.Almost always Whisper

Ford uses a different algorithm over there because the range rating is vastly different than our EPA rating.
And drive mode is irrelevant.

That’s comforting….I was ready to ask Ford for a buy back. Just kidding!!!

Very many thnx, makes perfect sense now, rarely charge under 100% and when I do don’t usually pay much attention to the FP screen when I disconnect in the morning after a charge hence I never noticed it before?

Every day’s a school day ?

Once I’m on the road the realism hits home and the true range soon becomes 240 winter and 270 if I’m lucky in summer.

TBF to car & Ford I’m usually fully loaded to maximum permissible weight and at highway speeds a lot of the time with heat & A/con running so not exactly the most economic way to use an EV.

Still bloody impressive at over 110,000 miles and HVB at 93%SoH.

You just gotta love these cars ?????

Hey Lee
I've read all the pages of this post, and I have a slight headache.
In Miami, I bring the car into the garage daily to protect from the sun, pollen, etc. On average, I leave at 3pm to pick up my daughter. I drive 22 miles round trip.

Do I need/should I plan a departure time in the app to precondition?

I assume, no.
