It's confirmed that FordPass with PAAK enable, drained Android phone very fast or used lots of power.
I've been testing on this for couple of weeks now. The Bluetooth on your phone is constantly in active search mode for the vehicle when you're away from the vehicle. This draws major power and drains the battery fast.

The PAAK portion of FordPass is still very buggy. I'm going to to disable this for now until Ford comes out with a better solution. Has anyone in here have experienced with this problem?

I had the same problem, especially if FordPass and Android Auto were running, had my phone depleted in a few hours. On my Android 11 phone, I made sure that these apps do not run in the background and got my battery to normal usage levels. For me Paak and AA run smoothly and all the time. Hope this helps.

If I don't need PAAK running, I pull down on the PAAK persistent notification in Android and choose Cancel. That seems to keep it from running in the background until the next time I open FordPass, which is an OK compromise for me.

Yes, many. Numerous threads on it. Sometimes it drains, sometimes it doesn't.

Battery drain was absolutely a problem on early versions of FPass
I have noticed the battery drain issue fixed as of 3.32.0 on my Android.

I can leave FP on 'all the time' and it is doing a pretty good job putting itself to sleep and battery management. I still turn off the BT once in a while to prevent the MME from waking up every time I go in/out of the garage.

This week the app drove my phone battery down from 80% to 10% in two hours. I had the app running in the background and location services on all the time. I turned both of those off and it fixed the problem. It seemed location services was the real problem - now it only uses location services when the app is open.

BTW - I quickly gave up on PaaK when it failed one time and I had to get the Key Fob out to drive the car. PaaK is still running, but I am also always carrying the Fob.

not a great idea to have both Fob and Paak active at the same time.... I would suggest you wrap your Fob up in tin-foil, and hide it somewhere in the car for Emergencies. I think you'll find Paak reliable once you have current version of FP

what version of FordPass do you have running on your phone ?

easy way to check is:
- hold your finger on the FP icon until the 'select items - uninstall - App info' pop-up appears.
- touch the 'App info' choice
- scroll to bottom to see version

if you are NOT running 3.32.0 ... then
- go to your Play Store on phone
- search for FordPass
- hit the green 'update' button

I had my Fob wrapped in tin foil and hidden in the car. I drove my car to go shopping. When I came back to the car, I pressed the unlock button on the door and the door opened. When I sat down and pressed "start", the car told me it could not detect a key. I opened FordPass and hit the lock and unlock buttons, which worked properly but still the car would not start. So I got the Fob out, unwrapped it from the tin foil, and started the car. Then said to myself that I don't need that hassle, so I will just carry the Fob.

Why is using both a problem? I have not had it cause any problem for me. My FordPass app is version 3.34.0.

It would definitely be cool to rely on Paak, so if you have any suggestions, I will give it a try. One more time. But on the next failure, I am out. At least until there is some definitive fix that is reliable.

so.... MME saw you coming, and 'saw' your phone well enough to unlock the doors, thats a good thing.

My next question may seem basic, but I have found it is CRUCIAL for dependable PAAK connection to 'start' the car to physically put your phone on the tray under the Console before you try to 'start'. It's even better if you set the phone in tray, take a few seconds to buckle up, and THEN 'start' the car.

I've had zero errors since updating to 3.34, phone in tray, buckle up, THEN 'start'

I will try that. It was very strange that it let me unlock but not start.

Thank you all for the feedback.

It seems that we've all experienced the same issues with FordPass and PaaK. Ford had an update last week for the FordPass. However, it did not make any difference. FordPass is now synced intermittently.

I have deleted the PaaK for now. Hopefully, Ford will get this straighten out soon.

Again many thanks to all of you for all of the feedback.

Have a Wonderfull Holiday Season.
