Android Widget for Mach-E [Less Complex]

Right now I feel I have a decent beta release for the Mach-E owners, but it's definitely an "opt-in" kind of thing. It looks fine to me in all three widgets, but you need to pick your the colors for your vehicle (and if you have Cyber Orange or Grabber Blue, I have suggested values).

I can push (a) a beta to Google Play, (b) an unoffical release to GitHub (nothing that shows as an update, so you need to manually install), and/or (c) all of the above. Should I go for it?

Beta release is available on GitHub and (soon) to Play Store Beta users. For the GitHub version, you can also install by going into Settings, clicking on "GitHub repo", then scrolling down to Installation and clicking the link. Right now it only works with the Mach-E, so if you have another vehicle....

To use, go into Settings and turn on "Enable color display of vehicle", then enter a six-character hexadecimal RGB code for the color you want to use. I'm using "900000" for my car; "00C0E0" looks close to Grabber Blue to me. Interested to hear what colors people believe are closest to their car's color.

OK, some nitpicking: The app gives me constantly, including ring tone, notifications that a new OTA status was found, which of course is untrue. One notification per new OTA status would be enough...

BTW, where would you like to be informed about such issues? In this thread, or rather via the bug tracker on github?

I think it will keep notifying you until you open the app and clear the alert. You can also try clearing all your phone notifications.

Correct; every time it reads from the server, it will notify until you go to the OTA screen and clear it.

Version 2022.07.11 just uploaded to GitHub and (soon) to Play Store. If you were running the previous beta, it's a little different since it support multiple vehicles.

To use, you need to turn on "Enable color display of vehicle" in Settings. An entry will then appear in the three-dot menu for "Set Vehicle Color", which will open a new activity for you to choose the color.

When you click "Save" the info is stored in the database.

Need a little help... I'd like to automate the vehicle color selection using the images downloaded of the vehicle from Ford's servers, or at least make an approximate first guess. To do so I need other image samples.

If you'd like to contribute, I've created a new issue on GitHub to gather images. First, your phone needs to be rooted (because that's the only way to get the images). Next, check there to see if someone with the same color vehicle has already uploaded an image. If not, follow the instruction in the first post for the issue to locate the image and upload it.

@zhackwyatt reminded me there is a URL anyone can use to download the images seen in the widget:

where VIN is your VIN, MODELYEAR is 2021 or 2022, and ANGLE is 1 through 5. I'm assuming all Mach-E are using angle=1, so it would be important to know if your default is something else.

I'm using the sample images is finding a representative 10 by 10 pixel patch to read the color from. I've used my own image to locate one, but getting a few other colors to confirm a consistent match would be great.
