Since the app is useless until Ford releases their public API, I'm going to include the text below on the app's main screen, along with a notification directing people to read it. I'd appreciate any feedback or suggestions to make it clearer. Comment here or e-mail me at [email protected]. If it's fine as-is, just like this message.

------------------------
In early October 2023, major portions of the application programming interface (API) used by this app were disabled, making it impossible to read status information about vehicles. Ford is developing a "public" API that should restore this functionality. Sources have stated it should be released prior to January 2024 but no firm date has been given. No further app updates will be published until that occurs.

The app will no longer attempt to send any information, including login authentication, to Ford's servers in order to avoid the possibility of FordPass accounts being locked out.

Only change I would recommend would be to say "...were disabled by Ford..." to make it clear it isn't something you have control over.

I received an email from Tronity that they now can connect to Ford cars. So it seems the API is available?

I've not received any new info from Ford. Maybe they (Tronity) have access to a paid version?

That could be. While they said it is available, I was unable to reactivate my car so I have contacted them for help. Maybe it isn't quite working yet. IDK.

not sure how much you want to chase it without something solid from ford but the Home Assistant integration has been stable for a month now.
There is this note at the end:
Disclaimer
This integration is not officially supported by Ford and as such using this integration could result in your account being locked out!

I thought Ford was releasing an official API? If so, why the disclaimer? It still isn't official?

Ford has stated they are releasing an official API, which I'm still waiting on. Home Assistant Integration was still using the reverse-engineered API when I checked two months ago. It seems Ford doesn't care too much as long as an app doesn't force updates from the car. When my account was locked out, I think it was due to Recurrent.

Since the official API isn't making any progress, I have decided to revive the widget using the same API calls HAI is using. It will be a while before I start as I've got other distractions that need attention first

Interesting. Not much is different from what I recall on that page before, except for the FordConnect Simulator stuff (which they sent me in August).
It seems that it is authorized now, so we should be able to get the widget working again. What do you think? I tried to enter my user ID and PW in the widget but it gave me an error. I can try again.

From what I've looked at it's not the API that FP uses (which is what the widget was designed around). The base URLs are also different.

The first thing I need to do is get Oauth2 working; if I recall I tried using the new API calls before with the existing login method and it didn't work.

I started looking at how the FordPass Home Assistant team dealt with the new Ford API. So far I've been able to get authentication working again and can read vehicle status information. I learned before that they've changed the JSON format of the status data so it no longer matches any of the structures I'm using. I believe I'll have to do some extra work parsing their new structures to fit the existing models.

With my luck they'll change it all again before I get it working...
