Another power option besides off, accessory (12v), and on?

Perhaps I have ICE brain too much and not wanting to use the On mode (put foot on brake, go into drive, take off) at times when I want to just use climate settings for comfort or USB ports for charging w/o draining the 12v battery.

But I can’t seem to find a mode where these things (climate settings, radio, USB ports, etc.) are powered by the MME’s main battery other than when the MME is also ready to take off when you shift to drive. I can turn off the 30 minute autoshutoff and just use these things when the MME is on and running, just didn’t know if that was a safety issue or not. I guess no carbon monoxide being produced. ;)

Perhaps that isn’t a big deal, just not sure I get the accessory mode running off of the 12v battery I guess.

While there really isn’t ANY difference between “on” and “full accessory mode,” (other then being able to turn the gear selector), I think I’d feel better knowing the car was “on.” In my mind, it’s more likely to maintain the LVB from the HVB that way. Though even then the LVB is maintained even when the car is off so my logic is just plain dumb too.

Then you are looking for camp mode and/or dog mode, which we don't have... yet at least. As far as it has been discovered, the only mode the DCDC is running in full power is in full ON mode ("engine on"), otherwise it is in maintenance mode. I have seen a number of 50W somewhere, which is enough to keep it topped up when parked, but not to actually run anything other than dashcams, parking lights, etc

Thanks for the replies.

Actually, I suppose while charging and in the ON mode it'd be sorta what I'm after.....everything turned on but you can't go into Drive mode. Just wish could enter this mode when not charging.

Mabye a dog / camp mode will be in an update someday.

The same modes are available when charging and not charging, except that when charging the gear selector is locked when in "engine ON" mode, it is the same as normal ON, except for the drive lock.

Have seen plenty of people camping in their cars in READY (On) mode. Works just fine, not sure why we have to over complicate it.

Not trying to overcomplicate it...it might be an ICE way of thinking but READY (On) mode where the gear shifter could be accidentally moved into drive seems like a safety issue for extended stays in that mode while in Park.

They disable the gear shifter when charging, guess I just want that ability on demand too for similar situations (extended READY (on) mode while in park).

Every time I pull into a charger and charge, with the car On, I find I have to step on the brake and push the button to activate the shifter. Therefore, my conclusion is at some point the car reverts to accessory mode, but I haven't sat there trying to figure it out.

I mean, the reason seems pretty clear, no?
There are multiple reasons that are pretty clear to me, not just one. Some are the same reasons I'm suggesting an ad hoc way of disabling the gear shifter, not just while charging.

You don't have to agree with me, but it isn't a big ask considering competitors have modes akin to what I'm after (Camp, Pet, etc.).

But there are Tesla owners that think the camp mode is frivolous and unnecessary too. To each their own I guess.

Back when I-95 was shut down because of weather, if I remember correctly EV cars batteries out lasted ICE vehicles. This leads me to think that EVs with a good level of charge 50%+ will run a very long time when it’s not moving, eg “idling” in Park and when using moderate heat or a/c?
