Unfortunately Amazon Alexa is in my Mach-E right at the top of the screen everyday :(
Oh interesting, didn’t realize it was out in some cars!
And bummed to hear they don’t let you remove the shortcut icon.

It's not a matter of love or hate, I don't get why the icon has to be there whether you want it or not. It should be optional (and I would opt to remove it). It's amazing that Ford has hidden its own logo, yet puts Alexa right in front of your face, 100% of the time, whether you want it or not.
I get ya.....But it's there and I still don't have my GTPE yet so I rather see Alexa than not have the EV at all......lol

The enhanced Alexa integration was press release released, but that's it. Radio silence since...

The article did say "Beginning this fall, the Mach-E and certain other Ford vehicles will get Amazon Alexa compatibility via OTA update." but they didn't say what year "this fall" was for or if that was Northern or Southern hemisphere fall so I think they have a lot of wiggle room for when it will actually come as an OTA and still hit their stated target date of this fall.

It was installed in my 2022 from the day I picked up the car.

I cannot remove it, which is frustrating. Just like the i-heart-radio garbage in my Tacoma. I dislike having such things installed without the option to remove them.

Fortunately I have to choose to activate it before it's active...Of course, it being Amazon, I have no trust that it's inactive now.

I am pretty sure we will all get her with an OTA, so get ready. And I doubt we will have a choice if we want the other "improvements" that are part of that and future updates. Maybe I will just put a piece of black tape over the logo on the screen so I won't be so annoyed that it is there. As long as she is not turned on and listening, it will just be a minor annoyance.

Edit: maybe our friends @AOSK will make an Alexa cover to hide the logo! ?
I’m find the idea of an Amazon logo or Alexa logo in my car offensive. I find the idea of it listening even more offensive. I genuinely despise that idea altogether. If they’re not removable I’ll rethink my entire use of this car.

I found a solution to your first concern.

Still thinking about your remaining concerns, though. I don't know how I could prove to you (or me or anyone) that it is or isn't listening when its connected feature option isn't enabled.

The best option would be Siri integration through CarPlahy or improvements to the existing Ford voice assistant.
I‘m not an Apple user, but I believe a long push on the voice button when Car Play is in use. You will have SirI. This has been in Ford vehicles for a few years.

She spies on us in the house - do not need her spying on us in the car!
What private thing are you doing in the car that you wouldn’t be doing in the house? Actually, on second thought, don’t answer that.

Alexa, whether in your home or car does not constantly record and send audio to the mothership. She waits for the wake word and then sends after that. Yes she can be triggered accidentally and yes you can delete all recordings that she makes.

I do not have Alexa anywhere at home, or mobile. I don’t use “Hey Google” either. And I’ve used Siri about 7 times since it was introduced. It sucked then, it still sucks.

Honestly, I simply don’t want to stare at any icons I’ll never use on the sync screen. That includes Alexa, Sirius Xm, etc. I like decluttered desktops. Alexa will be the straw that breaks the grouchy old guy though. If I can’t remove the icon, I’ll put the car in CarPlay and never take it out. :p

You can just say Hey Siri and your phone will hear you and it will come up on the CarPlay screen.

Thanks everyone for the responses about Siri, I realized I that I wasn’t clear about what I was trying to say. I wanted to say that I would like to be able to use Siri to control aspects of the car, similar to what the ford assistant can. Things like setting the temperature, turning on seat heaters or other neat stuff. Maybe this is possible already? I haven’t actually tried with Siri but I will tomorrow. If this isn’t available, it would be cool to be able to do.
