True. I'm seriously considering the Mach-E, and I've never owned a Ford.
Really not impressed so far with what the VW Group has offered regarding BEVs.
Kia/Hyundai however, I like what they're doing ?
I love Audi. Still traded it in for my Mach-e, which I believe is the best car I’ve ever owned.
Audis are great. So are Infinitis. But man did they do a great job on the Mach-e.

never had interest in a Tesla. Couldn’t afford the one I would get.
Yup this was pretty much me. Lifelong Honda owner and made the jump to Ford. Briefly looked at etron but other than the audi brand it seemed extremely underwhelming and overpriced. The Mustang premium trim hit sweet spot in terms of style, price, tech, and honestly the Mustang branding itself was a genius stroke by Ford.

The Bronco line is the same way, I know two people who bought Bronco Sports who haven't bought in the modern era and I know several Land Rover guys and Toyota FJ guys who have the Bronco (big) preordered.

good points. The mache is so hot right now they could sell 10,000 a month no problem. Just can't make them fast enough.

Again the Audi Q4 will be one of the slowest bev, the least amount of cargo room, the bottom of the range, and 125 charging. When you're talking to BEV buyers those are the big factors along with the price. It's not cheap enough to demand massive sales.

The Kia and Hyundai will sell 5 to 1 of the Audi q4.

Kia Niros have quietly conquered the Prius market here I have noticed. You see way more of them even as taxis and other uses where you saw Prius. And the Telluride/Pallisades are red hot here as well (10k mark up on the Telluride, it's why I didn't even look and went straight Mach E)

The real loser is Polestar.
I really really wanted a Polestar 1 but there was never one in my state as far as I can tell. I don't believe they exist.
Polestar 2 came out - my wife didn't even object and was like "ok let's drive one and see" of course after over a year on the mailing list I STILL haven't had anyone near me to test drive.
Intentional or not, they are pulling a Tesla without the hype and it's just not a bright move.

That leaves the XC40. Checked the website for the dealer we've previously been ignored at (We were going to shop a T8 XC90 - I can not stress how easy of a sale my wife is, as long as she can see out the car she will buy it and check all the options - and 1hr in the showroom NO one talked to us even to just say hi) The cheapest XC40 Recharge they had was 59k. That is Polestar money. No thank you. Didn't even go look...

The ID4 not offering AWD AND having a white steering wheel?

The MME was such an easy sale to my wife who A: never buys American B: made me sell my 2005 mustang before we got married. She drove it and said "yep, it's as nice as my (2012) Audi Q5 she had to sell when we had twins + 1 children suddenly)" and "more fun" then the Odyssey she drives and "not stupid" like my Fiat Abarth I also sold when we had twins + 1.

less cargo space, slower, less range, but cost as much or much. not good.

If they are launching it with the specs listed it's already dead on arrival.
I don't know if it's DOA but yes, Audi wants you to pay more for less. I get the impression that Audi thinks everyone wants to pay more for a hood ornament. Maybe some people will, but this just looks like a weak entry.

This is personal but I hate the faux grill. Pretty much on any BEV.

Looks nice, but super sluggish (0-60 in 6+ seconds?? Going to feel like an eternity after coming from an MME). If they could put some more power in the sportback version and keep it under $60k, I would strongly consider it in a couple of years, but as it is today I think the MME is still the better choice.
Agree, and the expected range could be better. They need a GT/S version of the fastback.

I don’t think they will go there with the Q4...this is meant more to be an economy model probably will lease for $599 a month Which will be very competitive. The upcoming q6 etron which shares a platform with the electric Macan will be the luxury/performance model.

Sure, but BEV is comparable to other BEV. For example the highest end model of the Q4 (dual-motor AWD) has the same 0-60 as the cheapest plain jane Chevy Bolt.. That's not good

Exactly! Same hp as well. Range is also similar. So you’re just paying a premium for the brand name and four ring logo.

Most people don’t care about 0-60 times. If they did then all they would buy is a Tesla...no one can hold a candle to Tesla 0-60 times for the money.

Slow sells better than fast in the ICE world. It never made sense to charge customers more $$ for a V6 or V8 which in turn reduced gas efficiency.

In the EV world there's no downside to a faster engine. You're not losing range or efficiency by putting in a faster engine. And the tech is already there that makes an EV motor quicker than a comparable ICE engine.

6.2 isn't slow in the ICE world. But it's almost 30% slower than a model Y or MME. There's no reason why a premium brand EV launching well after its competitors should have such a sluggish performance relative to its peers.
