I seriously doubt it, so why don't ICE vehicles have to complie?

All vehicles have to make over a certain DB of noise. Those ICE do, the EVs might also, but instead manufacturers decide strapping a beeping sound was easier than testing if each one makes enough noise without it.

And yes…my 4 cylinder makes a crap ton of noise at idle compared to the Mach e….you kinda forget how noisy it is inside after driving the EV for awhile.

So blame Ford.

I don't particularly care for it either. It reminds me of the fork truck I drive at work.

I'm not condoning this suggestion and I do not know the legality of it but there is an aftermarket way to eliminate it.

All motor vehicles are required to emit sound above a certain level below certain speeds. It just that ICEs meet the requirement without an additional noisemaker.

Seriously , I would not want to be on the receiving end of a lawsuit for disconnecting a backup alarm.
Just tune in your favorite radio station, music app or usb drive and forget about it!

Several years ago I began hearing an unusual and heretofore unknown repeating sound somewhere in my immediate neighborhood. Intrigued by the unusual nature of this sound, I made an effort to find its source whenever I heard it. It sounded to me like a sonar sweep (like you see in the movies) followed by a brief electronic hiccup. 'Sweep-Hic, Sweep-Hic...etc. Finally discovered its source one day. I was gazing out my upstairs window as my next door neighbor was backing his recently new Nissan Leaf out of his driveway. I thought it was a cool sound and definitely got my attention. How about it Ford?

Yes! It is a well know goal of Ford engineers to find ways to make the Mach-e more like a Nissan Leaf ;-)

LOL it annoys mine to. Him and his kids are also dickheads so I get a smug smile on my face every time I back out of the garage.

This has to be one of the most ridiculous complaints I've seen on this board.

But it’s not the first time, or the last you’ll hear that back up sound complaints.

How many of you guys can’t stand the annoying backup sound generated by the MME? I wish ford would provide an alternative sound or five to choose from. Truly this is the thing I absolutely hate about my car.

I'm curious when I installed the Borla sound system they tell and show you how to remove the backup beeper and then relocate it. The studs were there but no beeper, just the way I want it. Is this just on 21's?
