Hi,
I just got Borla's Active Performance Sound System. I received it last week. Looking at the manual, I'm was not conformable taking apart my car to install it myself. I reached out to Borla and they suggested I go to a Car Audio place. I settled on Zautosound. They are in my area. They did a great job. I dropped the car off around 10:30am and the car was done around 4:30PM the same day. Even the installer, who is a motor head, liked the way it sounds. My wife, on the other hand, has no idea why I'm doing this. :)

The interesting thing is the car feels different. Maybe it kinda reminds me of my Saleen Mustang I used to own. At the moment it comes with 4 sound selections. Ford Mustang 5.0L GT, Ford Mustang GT500, Chevrolet C8 and Dodge SRT 392. I have attached all 4 sound selections. After the new year, Borla will release an App which will allow you to change the selected sounds.

I have been getting varying responses from my friend. Some get it some don't. I like it because the low speed sound tends to get ignored by pedestrians. They can ignore may car now...

One of the things I like is that I have complete control over the type of sound and the volume. With my Saleen Mustang my neighbor's would know when I came home at night because they could here my car. Not with this. Also, I'm not stuck with always the same sound...

The question is: Which one would you pick?

That is pretty cool. It's a personal preference, not everyone would be into this, but I can definitely see the appeal.

tracks 2 or 4. they are clearer.

I'd do it as a novelty for sure ... but $1600...usd? nope.

competitors will follow at half that price which is still 4x more than what it should sell for, and they will be laughing to the bank.
Borla IMO has jumped the shark on this offering, and gouging its customers.

No offense, but I think this is the noise pollution equivalent of rolling coal. I'm all for blasting out your ear drums with internal speakers, but don't bother your neighbors if there is an option. How does that bring you more enjoyment?

But each to their own.
This is a solution for noise pollution because unlike a traditional aftermarket exhaust system the driver has control of the external volume of this kit through the controller, they can even turn it off altogether. If you think you might upset someone, you just turn it down or shut it off. Can't do that with straight pipes......

Dumb question, but why not mount it inside the car instead of outside? That way you can hear it but everybody else doesn’t.
Borla's focus is on the external noise, not the internal to the driver.

I thought it would be neat to have, especially at a car show where you drive around making noise and people are watching (1 mile circuit in a nearby town), and told them I could demo it in my Mach-E and my Lightning to attract buyers. I got emails saying it was happening in 6 weeks back in early Feb. I was told I would get a "you've been waiting discount" due to my early interest, with a significant discount (after being told pricing would be like a Cat-Back exhaust system). I looked those up, and then sent back to them, "thanks, but there's no way your discount will be enough for me to buy". I got back assurances that it would be. Well, it came out, and I got offered a discount of less than 20%. Needless to say, still way more than I would pay, as I expected it would be.

Oh well.

You will hear it both ways like any Borla or quality exhaust. I take it most on the forum have never owned a great sounding V8. There is a huge difference of too much sound in the cabin as well as external. A good burble is what you should be attempting to achieve. It is the soul of the car to me, and I'm willing to borrow one.

This takes care of a lot of needs for me. Sound for driving that can be controlled, a novelty for all the not a Mustang crew, freak out the good old boys that believe EV's are a sign of the apocalypse, and piss off my wife. What else could I want? ?

Love the "piss off my wife".

Love a V8. Will miss my 2013 F-150 when it's gone.

You have too much faith in your target demographic.
