Brake grinding

I have 16,000 miles on my car and I have always used one pedal we recently have had snow so I turned one pedal off and use the brakes. I noticed that When I am breaking right before the car stops there is a grinding noise coming from the front wheels.

Is this happening because I have have always used one pedal or do I have a break issue?

This is completely normal. Your rotors and pads are a bit rough due to lack of use. You can 100% bed them in and get them perfectly smooth and silent and then drive around with 1 pedal for a bit and they will be right back to noisy again in short order...all from lack of use.

There's no cause for concern.

edit: I should add...using 1 pedal or not, the blended braking functionality that leverages regenerative braking first even without using 1 pedal driving ensures you will pretty much always have this behavior unless you're always turning off traction control.

I’m a 100% 1P user. Every so often, every 6 months or so, I drive down the neighborhood at about 20-30 MPH and do a few panic brakes to get them cleaned up.

Alternatively, it is possible to switch to neutral and gently press the brake pedal to engage the brakes, there will be no regenerative braking in "N'. I do it sometimes after the car wash.

And another forum, I recommended taking your vehicle out and letting her rip then slamming on the brakes. Repeat as necessary until the squeaks are gone.
