I dunno what the hell it even does...I figured maybe it was needed for the integration with the charge assist so I just paid for it with fordpass points. It's less than 7 bucks a month...not gunna cheap out on that.
Send me $7 a month and I’ll make your car run smoother.

For me, Android auto with Google maps EV routing is more then enough for long trips, for local drive I never used Ford navigation.

I DIDN'T SEE ANY USEFUL THING IN FORD NAVIGATION.

Hi everyone,

Has anyone opted to subscribe to the $80 per year in - dash navigation system?

It seems to me, with Google maps , Waze, and Apple Maps…. This really isn’t needed…

Why charge for it? When no one else is?
That I’d pay for. Blue Cruise only would purchase the month I’d be doing a road trip

You can navigate to a charger thru the public charging app. Select the charger and click navigate to and it goes thru the ford nav. I don’t dcfc enough o know if this works or not but read that is the work around.
Good point. While you then can navigate to the charger, it won’t precondition. It’s strange for sure.

I didn't re-up for it. One time it would have been useful. I was intentionally running my battery low to do a singe digit to 100% charge. The temps dropped significantly on me, and I had a touch of range anxiety. Apple maps refused to route me directly home and insisted I stop to charge. I had done something similar in Ford nav when that was still active, and it would take me home and give a reasonable estimate of remaining charge on arrival. It seems like Apple maps has lower charge limit of 10%, and I didn't see an easy way to override that.

It does in fact work just like that. You're correct. Public Charging hands-off the charger location you've selected to the Nav as a destination.

So if after selecting a charger in Public Charging and it gets handed off to the Nav as a destination....what are the indications that your vehicle is now 'preconditioning' as you're hurtling toward your charge stop?

It does not. Can’t find the topic anymore but was users that tested it out (by providing OBD data). While the NAV find the destination it won’t precondition the battery. At same time - there is no visual indication normally either, but you can hear it as a humming and increased energy consumption.

You can pay for it with 16,000 FordPass points.
That's what I did. I mainly used it for road trips where I'll need to use DCFC so it will pre-condition the battery before arriving at charging stations. I'm annoyed, though, that they haven't added Tesla Superchargers to it months after adapters shipped.

If the Ford Nav was decent, I might pay for it. But it is not. It is horrible. We used it twice early on and were so disappointed and frustrated with it that we have never tried again. Google is much better (and easier to use).

No. Several people have mentioned that Ford navigation is not good. Several times, Ford navigation told me to drive across 6-8 lane highways. I would have to drive through ditches and fences to get to another side.
Ok, I've use the Ford nav a lot... I've never had an experience like this... so put me down in the category of it works as well as the phone nav apps from my experience... And yes, I use those extensively when I travel on business.

The Ford system is after all purchased from one of the large GPS nav companies.
