There was a thread a couple of years back that Kris started when he painted his calipers then Martin and a few others did the same thing. My last few cars have come with painted calipers (Focus RS in Nitrous Blue, GT500 in Race Red, Mach -E GTPE in Race Red). My latest car, '24 Mach-E GT also had Race Red calipers until I decided to have them painted Grabber Blue metallic. I do all of my mods myself and am not one to take my cars even to a dealer unless it is mandatory warranty work. However, after some investigation on painting calipers, I found a place in the SF Bay Area that has been doing this for over 15 years. MUM Sports in Fremont, CA (https://www.mumsports.com/). After talking with them and viewing hundreds of photos of painted calipers they've done (also over a dozen Mach-E calipers) I decided to just let them do the work instead of me messing with it.
They do not remove the calipers from the car so no need to bleed brake lines or recalibrate anything. Only one person does the job from start to finish and it takes a little over 24 hours. Bring the car in at 9:00 am and pick it up the next day at 11:00 am. They sand down the caliper, prime it, apply two coats of your color choice, apply any logo you want in any color (or none) then apply a clear coat. The entire car is covered in plastic during this process. They guarantee their work for 2 years but have cars over 15 years with no issues. Total cost is $600 for their standard colors and $100 extra for any custom color you want. Grabber Blue is not one of their standard colors so this cost me $700.
I cannot be happier with the job they did. The finish looks better than factory and really love the way Grabber Blue looks with the Glacier Gray body color. The red calipers just weren't doing it for me with Glacier Gray. MUM Sports is a complete detailer. Window tinting, ceramic coating, PPF, wheel powder coating, etc. I had to drive 2 1/2 hours to their place and when I told them, they said they have many that come from the Sacramento area and even down south as well. They do excellent work at reasonable prices. I just had to make a shout out to them. ?
Of course it started snowing as I got closer to home so if the weather is better this weekend will take and post a few more photos.
