Any ideas beyond trying to reset sync (the button thing)

Worked fine mid-day, cranked the AC up to have lunch.

Preconditioned fine, got to the car, wouldn't light up. Stopped the car. Turned off, got in and out / locking.... no difference

Charged for a bit at home, left the car, still not working.

Oddities: PaaK has never worked since paired, today it started to. Walk by the car in the driveway and the lights turn on. When I stopped the car the first time, the shutdown noise sounded slower & clunky, like it was rendered by a dying computer.

Out of nowhere on the ride home I'm now getting regenerative breaking coach when I never have in real-time. Car has always been in unbridled mode, so is this something normal when in the other modes? Getting it when coming to a stop, even stop and go traffic... Just no center screen.

-Center screen stopped working, sync reset does nothing
-Car might have reset to a default mode, I've never seen a brake coach on the main cluster
-When I tried turning the car off before leaving the work parking lot, the shutdown noise sounded like it was played on an 80's arcade machine on its way out.

Try restarting SYNC... hold down the volume down and next track buttons on your steering wheel for several seconds.

Brake coach is only available in Engaged mode. In your photo, the vehicle is in Engage mode based on the graphics we can see on your instrument cluster. Maybe it moved you to that mode when the center display computer crashed?

Tried restarting sync, first thing I thought to do. Here's the thing, the screen is dead. Zero touch, zero anything. What was most worrisome was the spooky noise of the usual shutdown noise sounding beyond glitched when I tried stopping before I left work, to no avail.

My best guess is the car derped somehow, it's in Engaged mode (I've never had it in there, even my online profile is unbridled) and.. I can't get out of it.

Worst, I put on max A/C at 60 degrees mid-day to cool off eating lunch, and without a middle screen, had to drive home like that. Had to throw the windows down to heat up on the way home.

Not sure what I can do beyond the volume / next track buttons.

If it was just the screen bugged out I wouldn't be as worried as the noise that glitched when I tried putting it off and back on before leaving. Imagine an audio file processed in the wrong format and slowed down. Worried something's toasty inside to get a non-working screen + major audio glitch. More worried about taking it to a dealer around here.

Place I got it from has a guy flown in from Ford in Michigan to do PaaK fixes (and a bunch there)

If I take this in, worried I won't see it before December.

This is just a wild guess….wild guess…. but I don’t think it will hurt to try. There are a set of breakers on the fuse box that you can easily flip and re-engage. They are just under the driver side hood cover. I had a similar issue with the car amplifier throwing a default code. It’s a 10 minute process and it might….might save you a trip to the dealer.

I was gonna say “disconnect the 12v for a few minutes,” but I’m just pulling that out of my butt. Still…stranger things…

Thank you!

Going to find it with a flashlight. My dealer doesn't know what mobile service is, or believes it exists. When I got my plates I saw a dozen MME's in a row... not new, rather waiting for PaaK updates. They had one guy Ford flew in from Dearborn...

I'll burn sage if I have too with a damn dance to avoid taking this to the dealer.

That was my backup plan, I've seen one too many go in and end up with funky codes or people driving around bog standard loaners for a while. Final plan was to drain the bastard down to as much as possible, then disconnect the 12V and let it sit a day or 3 while trying to start.

Hell it worked for some 1U servers and crappy SuperMicro motherboards (terrible capacitors) back in the day, and I figure with Ford electronics, we're not far off from that.

Thanks for the input guys, I have 2 possible methods of not needing to send this to the graveya dealer now.

This may be a critical clue. I remember a thread or two when folks encountered this months ago and they did some sort of reset to solve it. Search around on the forum. If you find this thread you may have your answer.

Started having this issue yesterday as well. The difference is my screen comes on after a few minutes but is not usable. The time displayed is wrong, and none of the functions are usable.

It did change the driving mode for me as well and the radio started playing when I was getting the toddler from the back seat.

Will try the sync reset today and see if that does anything

Restarting sync seems to have fixed the issue. Back to normal for me now

Take a look at this video before you start pulling fuses. This might be a quick fix worth trying first. Good Luck!

Did you try setting the inside temperature using voice commands? Just hit the voice button on the steering wheel and say 72 degrees, or whatever temp you want, and it should adjust the A/C.

Yep, no reply. It was f'ing freezing, damn efficient AC system esp since it somehow remembered it was on 60F @ MAX-AC but forget I was in Unbridled mode?

Pulling fuses overnight worked. I also pulled the alarm fuse just incase it got mad.

I'd tried the breaker thing, but maybe for not long enough?

Just honestly thankful I don't have to go back to the dealer, I lost unbridled mode (which I did already from brake coach coming up on the other display)
