Another newbie to ceramic, the last car I maintained well was a 25 year old black stingray vette, I would just use turtle wax every month or so, and a california car duster between. I live in New England, have a garage, but dont garage every night. Our local car wash which I am very impressed with did a full "clean and detail" of our 8 year old highlander, inside and out for $140. He said it would $500 to ceramic coat my MME, which is 5 months old, space white. He said most of the cost is labor, wash, polish, clay bar, ceramic. Other places I have seen $2,000 as a cost, there has to be a difference between $500 and $2000? Why do the costs vary so much? He said he has gone to training on it, and I do trust him. Thoughts?
I would recommend everyone doing the ceramic coating themselves. It is really easy especially no paint correction is required on a new car. Prograde coating done by professional lasts a lot longer. But doing it once per year myself is still a lot cheaper. Everyone of my car no matter good or bad has ceramic coating applied. The main reason besides good shine is that it makes car washing much easier, no more elbow grease rubbing. Easily hose off bird drops and bug splatters. I also apply it on the windshield, rain fly off at highspeed. I use Cquartz UK3.0. Very forgiving flash time. Leave it on 2-4 Min and wipe off. $60 30ml Coating is enough for a 2 coat application. Takes about 2-3 hours. I apply it once per year.

First real bath since the Ceramic Coat. Am getting a lot of complements on the look. Could not be more pleased.

After adjusting front license plate for cruise, then observing the number of vehicles which opted to forgo a required front license plate.... I much prefer the look without and will take the risk.

Used Adams Graphene Advanced ceramic coating.
I'm a believer in the Adams Graphene Ceramic. Very easy to apply and great results. Like with any ceramic, the key is prep.

Absolutely on the prep. My MY didn't need any correction having come directly from the factory but clay bar did pull out some grime from the transportation on the MY.

After some internet reviews I've decided to go with Modesta Private Label (Japanese Product) with a professional installer on Oahu. Yeah its really expensive however the two coats (inorganic bottom layer and organic top layer) are applied separately. The advantage with this higher end Modesta Ceramic Coating is you can refresh the water repellent top layer as needed without the need to reapply the whole product. Expensive yes, high UV salt environment requires best paint protection you can get methinks. Installs next week, can't wait to see how my MMEv looks after its done.

Looking for opinions on getting a ceramic coating done on my mach-e. I've never had a vehicle worth coating. Worth it? Does it ever peel? Appreciate the input.
I used Adams graphene coating. Wiped on, let flash over, wiped off. I took car thru car wash. Normally I get no touch (soap and high pressure water) but got soft touch (rotating brushes) and no scratches! Highly recommended.

I applied the Adams ceramic over the weekend, finishing up yesterday morning. At work today they cut the grass and everyone’s car got a nice layer of grass clippings. Is it safe to rinse this off when I get home later this afternoon?

I empathize. My gardener does the same thing to my MME every week.

I would check the installation instructions on the Adams website to find out how long the coating has to cure and how long you have to go without exposing it to water. It depends on the specific product/coating you applied. Or you can even call Adams customer support and ask them.

Assuming your coating has fully cured and it is ok to expose it to water, then the question is, what is the best and safest way to get rid of the grass clippings? Some might say it is ok to just hose off the clippings since you have a ceramic coating on there. Personally, I would get a rinseless wash like Optimum No Rinse, put some in a spray bottle or garden sprayer, and "pretreat" by spraying the dirty areas with this solution. Then I would rinse it off with a hose. The ONR will encapsulate some of the particles, provide more lubrication than water alone, and make it less likely your paint will get scratched.

Or if you prefer a traditional wash, you can use a foam cannon or gun to spray foamy soap all over the car, and then rinse it off. The foamy soap will also lower the chances of the grass scratching the paint as it is hosed off.

Ceramic coatings help reduce scratches and swirls but they don't prevent them.

I recently had my MME ceramic coated and PPF installed on the front, hood and mirrors. The coating was $1200 with a 4 year warranty. The car is washed, inspected and ceramic reapplied as necessary once a year at no charge. It IS necessary sometimes, but not always, to do some polishing on a car straight from the factory before applying the ceramic. At the very least, it should be clay-barred.

Had my MME ceramic coated shortly after getting it. Cost was $800 with 5 year warranty. If it was anymore than that I probably would not have done it. Guy was super competent and does this for a living. Took him pretty much all day as he washed, polished, etc. before coating.

You're fine. Just make sure you dry thoroughly.
