Ceramic coating?

I agree with BodyShopGuy. Ceramic coating is something I really do not know anything about but I did have my 2015 Nissan GTR wrapped which was great! Not only did it protect the paint (regal red with 24 karat gold flakes in it) from everyday stuff like stone chips, door rash in the parking lot and the like, it protected the car where I parked at work when someone brushed it. Their insurance authorized replacement of the fender which would have been viewed as an accident. I took it back to where it was rapped and they pealed off the wrap and along with the wrap all of the scratches went with it. New wrap was applied and the car was what it was before the event. I traded the GTR in for MMEGT and it was considered perfect. I loved that car but it was really loud when driving it making my performance MMEGT wonderful–I can even talk to my wife in the car which is really good because she is someone you want to talk to. I am debating having it wrapped and will have to make up my mind soon.

Just had our new MME GT ceramic coated today with Liquid Armor in Smithtown NY. Very happy with them. Price was reasonable, they used SystemX Diamond coating, and coated the entire exterior - body, rims, brake calipers, and windows. We'll see how it holds up, but it looks great on a car we picked up last week, LOL.

I've used the Adam's Graphene kit as well and while I can't comment on durability, I'm pretty amazed with the results so far.

I know some Tesla owners w ceramic and they love it, FL is harsh on cars.

I got a quote for 1600$ for ceramic at the place I get my tint done, I trust their quality all my cars tint was done there and no bubbles or peeling on any of the 3.

After talking it through w the wife I decided just to do everything myself and wash and maintain the car properly vs pay for the ceramic.

I chose Adams, I am doing the graphine ceramic spray, vs their 'real' full true ceramic... I don't trust myself to do it right the first time nor do I have days of cure time to leave it, so I decided to do the spray version that is obviously not as 'strong'.

I also bought their graphine wash and quick detailer along w a pressure washer and foam spray wand. Keeping the whole system within the Adams graphine advanced system.

I have used f11, the last coat and chemical guys synthetic - all do what they say, just in Florida they last about a week, TLC for me lasted the longest and needed the least to apply.

I feel the investment in the right tools, time and system is cheaper and better than nearly 2k and then you still have to wash and maintain, its not magic. My co worker w it gets his ceramic 're balanced' yearly and quarterly detail work to 'decontaminate the ceramic'. So I think anything needs some proper work and upkeep. He also is ocd and admits he goes overboard on it, most others he knows w ceramic don't do the upkeep he does

But I do want to keep the mach e right, the dark gray is very pretty.

Update on the Modesta Ceramic Coat (private label). Paint is super hydrophobic and slick. It now self repels dust and dirt. Often just a powerwash is almost all that is needed to clean it. The blue color seems slightly deeper with more luster. Still gotta watch out for hard water spots.

I've had my MME for about four months now. I had the dealership do ceramic coating inside and out. This is my first new car in 30 years and my first with a brand new tri coat finish. So I don't really have anything to compare it to.

Nevertheless, what I've observed is the car is extremely easy to keep clean. Even bird droppings wipe away with minimal effort. No fingerprints on the fake leather. No brush/circle scratches from the car wash.

Ceramic is by my no means a bullet proof protector but it takes the brunt of a lot that never reaches the original finish.

PPF offers a more robust protection but is more expensive. I want to get PPF for the nose of the car and it will run ~$2,000.

Since you mentioned Topcoat F11, as a PSA, I thought I would mention that, IMO, this is one of the worst detailing products on the market. It is insanely expensive (about $60 for 16 ounces) and doesn't even last through a single wash.

Here is a video by a respected youtube detailer who reviewed F11 and warns people not to waste their money on it. There are plenty of legitimate and good quality ceramic spray sealants and ceramic coatings on the market. Adams Graphene Spray Coating and Gyeon Cancoat Evo are two examples. My advice is to avoid F11 like the plague.

My Ceramic Pro tech also got trained in SD and put it on our MY 15 mo ago. The shine then and today is, by far, the most lustrous I've had on any vehicle and I plan to have it on all our vehicles going forward. Same with the ppf on the frontal surfaces. Our 2017 Volt's frontal surfaces have only one minor scratch where a rock actually tore the ppf (and the tear hasn't spread in 2+ years).

Getting this done as soon as possible after you get your car will lessen the amount of paint correction needed (if any) before the application of the Ceramic Pro. The total cost for the ppf and ceramic pro was $1600.

I am loving the Adams graphite ceramic SPRAY not the high 'level' non spray one.

As stated I didn't trust myself doing a pro-ish level ceramic at home and I was right.

Do it SLOW I tried doing two cars at once and well the wash process.. Yeah then I was like I can go more than one panel....


so I got high spots that I can only see during certain lighting conditions so they are hard to track down.

I emailed Adams and they suggested simply and lightly wiping the area with their 'polish' and it works. I then can re apply if needed the graphine ceramic. This was way better than what I thought I would do with alcohol or re washing w the clean slate type soap.

I have used chem guys synthetic, f11 and TLC and this Adams stuff is the best I have used I am a week or so out and each of the others have either faded or were not as good as the first days... Adams still going great.

my poor car lives outside in Florida so I just figured any 'spray on' level stuff was just no match for the stuff Florida and daily driving hits it with.. But I am happy to have found this stuff.
