I always knew you would melt in the rain...

At least you provided a reasonable answer other than, "I don't like lots of apps".
It would help if the chargers were covered. When it is blowing wet snow, and the charger fails to initiate P&C, and then I have to call EA while I stand there getting wet and melting. It sucks. I can sit in my warm car and once the charger is ready, I get out and plug in. So much less stressful.

Hi Owners – Charging is about to get even better with another way to activate your charge experience!

Now, with Charge Assist, soon to be known as Public Charging, you will be able to search for and start a public charging session on the BlueOval® Charge Network right from your vehicle’s touchscreen. The best part? You now have the option to use either the vehicle’s touchscreen or the FordPass App on your phone to charge your car and complete a payment. This is especially helpful if you need to lend your car to a friend!

You will also be able to filter charging stations by charging speed and network and have a more seamless way to receive real-time information on new chargers, like availability and those in-repair all from inside your vehicle.

Just like you could before, you can still use the FordPass App – we are just giving you more choices for how you charge. As a reminder, the BlueOval Charge Network, North America’s largest public charging network by an automaker, is a “network of networks” that provides Ford EV drivers with access to a variety of charging providers without the need for multiple apps and memberships. Charging providers currently include Shell Recharge Solutions, Electrify America, EVgo, ChargePoint, FLO, Blink, EV Connect, and Electric Circuit, with more on the way.

If you aren’t enrolled in BlueOval Charge Network no problem. You will see a QR code on the screen that will prompt you to enroll.

Below is a guide of how to use the new feature and you can find more information here. Let us know what you think!

How To Use Charge Assist:

Navigating to a Public Charger:

  1. Select Home button
  2. Tap Charge Assist
  3. Adjust filters if desired then tap charger location for details
  4. Click the distance button to navigate to charger. Once you are at the charging location, click I’m Here Now

Start a Charging Session:
  1. Select Home button
  2. Tap Charge Assist
  3. Match charging stall name to the one you are parked at and click Activate
  4. Plug in the charger once you see the prompt change
  5. Charging will begin! When the blue bar reaches desired state of charge press stop
  6. Unplug the charger one the prompt appears

That's great, but now give us also equally important features such as:
1- Charging details (kW and temps) while fast charging our cars
2- A global configuration for charging limit to avoid the car to charge to 100% all the time.

Oh, and while you are at it, ditch the silly and non working location based charging limits, as GPS signal is not always available everywhere and this feature does not work at all....

I never thought about that... Rivian does this where you can do the global or location based.

With the Mach E location based has always worked well for me (I know it hasn't for others) so I guess I never knew I needed a global setting. It's not like I would ever go to 100% SOC at a DCFC. Now I wonder why Ford didn't give a global limit.

Try using P&C at an EVGo, or a ChargePoint, or any charger other than an EA.

There are lots of charging companies with equipment incompatible with the P&C standard.
Yes but EVGO uses Auto Charge+, which Ford EVs have access to and is basically EvGo's version of EA's Plug and Charge.

The problem is that outside of EA and EvGo, none of the other CCS level 3 charge point operators have implemented the Plug and Charge iso 15118 standard, which creates the situation of needing an app for some of those charge point operators. In my opinion, this where Charge Assist could be useful in eliminating the need for the driver to download an app to use some off-brand fast charger. Does anyone have experience with the Charge Assist app eliminating the need to download an app to use some random level 3 charger?

EVgo's implementation isn't actually ISO 15118 compliant. They're authenticating your car using your car's MAC address, which is why you have to plug your car in to complete the enrollment.

Hey Ford !

Please do not forget about Europe !
Also please update your navigation maps quicker, because a lot of chargers are not even available in the internal navigation !

But you don't need an app. All you need is your Apple Pay, Google Pay or credit card. The one and only exception, right now, is the few Tesla Magic Docks which require the Tesla app. Ford's Charge Assist won't work at Tesla stations so the one and only exception doesn't even matter.

Probably quicker if you report back to us with this answer. You know the Ford account won't answer you. Go out to your car, touch the Home (app tray) icon in the top left. You should see charge assist if it's available in Canada. It's a circular icon with a lightning bolt in the middle.

Yeah, good point. Nothing there so far, but others in The Great White North may have it I suppose. They mention the Electric Circuit network which is run by Hydro Quebec, so I assume it's coming.

But you know what they say about assuming...

It's been released GA, so it would be there if it was available in Canada. My guess is that you guys don't have it. I wonder if you drove across the border into the USA if it would appear. Prob associated by VIN so I doubt it.

As someone who has never used a DC charger and only tried a public lvl 2 charger 3 times in two years, my question is this- will this make charging easier?

I still feel like an idiot every time I try a charger and only succeeded 2 out of 3 times.

The 3rd charger just wouldn’t work and the lcd screen on the charger was completely unreadable so I couldn’t figure out which of the 2 charger cables I was supposed to connect to (I tried both but eventually gave up).

I’ve never met a gas pump I didn’t know how to work.
Which is a great reason why - in the absence of companies ensuring their systems work - government regulation is needed. Even gasoline pumps are regulated in most states by departments of weights and measures.
