I debated that as well. 50 amp charging requires it to be hardwired. 40 amp charging can be a plug using 14-50 plug. I went that way incase I decide to move I can simply unplug charger and take it with me. Or if you have issues with charger you can unplug it and replace with portable charger by simply plugging in portable charge in same outlet. Hard wired you are stuck with that charger and no back up portable charger option. Plus the amount of extra charge you get is not that much. Just my thoughts.

True, but the ChargePoint gives you both options with one unit, so you can change your mind later. With the Pulsar, the 40A plugin unit and the 48A hardwired unit are two separate chargers, so you have to decide up front.

Potential for louder cooling fan noise if you are maxing out the amperage, too.

Figures, I ordered mine from Chargepoint Directly on 8/15 and it said 5+ weeks, I tried to get them to charge it since we had a tax free weekend here but they wouldn't, only when it ships.

Woke up this morning to the message that it shipped last night and will take a week to get to me.

That would be awesome... My build date is 10/25/21 so I am guessing I am a ways away and it doesn't seem like people are getting any kind of updates / messages when their orders change. Seems like we happen upon it when we log in / check.

FYI anyone wanting a ChargePoint should just order one on their website rather than playing the Amazon game. Everyone I've seen gets theirs in about two weeks after ordering (event though the site says 4 weeks). I got mine in 2.5 weeks. Don't pay more than $700 either.

Also consider placement...I don't have a garage, so to avoid plug yoga with a weather tight box it made sense to hardwire the charger.

Also consider the electrical supply house in your area...Granite City here on the cape got it from their Taunton warehouse overnight...paid for it upfront and picked it up the next day...It was the same price as Amazon
