I charge to 90%. After 22,000 miles my HVB capacity is 96.5%, so only minor degradation. Many folks charge to 100% before a long trip.

90% at work (free), 60% at home. If I know I’m not going to be driving for a day or two I will leave it at 80% or less

I had been charging to 90%. But, in an effort to preserve the battery as long as possible, we shifted to 80%. The wifey’s drive is not too long and this really means we are charging every three to four days. I try not to get it lower than 40%. A chemist could probably better explain things like battery chemistry and battery degradation. Will 90% v 80% make a meaningful difference especially for people who plan to keep the car between seven to ten years, it may mean a more noticeable degradation of your battery - still probably only slight in comparison. If you’re the type of person who only keeps a vehicle five years or less, I don’t think it will matter at all. That’s my non-technical opinion. For what it’s worth, for our BMW iX, the manufacturer recommended charging percentage was 80%. For our Rivian R1S, the recommended charge is 70% although I charge to 80%.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a portion of the battery not accessible to the consumer--maybe somewhere around 10%. So, by charging to 90%, which I do, you aren't actually charging to 90% of the battery--only 90% of "available" battery. Therefore, charging to 90% is why Ford says a regular diet of that is okay? Just a thought.

My owners manual does not give a recommendation for charging settings. It recommends charging to a MAXIMUM of 90% for daily usage. Not to charge to 90%.
My recollection is that some versions recommend, while others allow.

For what it's worth, the manual for mine says, "Additionally, setting the maximum charge level to 90% for everyday usage reduces strain on the battery."

That said, I sometimes charge to 90% and sometimes 80% - seems to depend on my mood I guess.

They want you to charge to 90% of the available battery daily. Don’t overthink it.

Tesla is the same way (90% daily).

90% daily on our Juicebox 40 L2 charger for the 2021 Mach E GTP. Works good, lasts long time, minimal battery degradation - Plus it preconditions car and batteries in the hot Arizona summers!

90% 3-4 times a week depending on travel using the Ford EVSE L2 charger. 100% before long trips and we have only charged twice to 100% using DCFC on a road trip. We always try to keep at 90% or below. We have gone down to 3% on road trips several times. Normally no lower than 30% but on the daily.
