This will work. The ONLY downsides with a J1772 extender are 1) cost, and 2) risk of theft I guess?
I guess there's always some risk of theft, but most J1772 adapters and extension cords have a little hole for a padlock if you need it.

This sounds like a one-time occurrence. Not sure I'd pay for a J1772 extension not knowing if I'll ever use it again.

I agree with your conclusion. The dryer outlet is going to be problematic. You have the unknown of the plug -- probably some version of 10-30 or 14-30, which would requite the right adapter -- and the circuit -- which would need to be wired for 40A. Unless you can get a picture beforehand seems dicey.

But 110v is going to be slow. Have you checked on PlugShare for campgrounds in the area? Lots of time these will, for a fee of course, let you plug in. And these would be 14-50R.
I did check PlugShare and could not find anything around.
Just to be clear, if I’m ever going to use a “dryer” plug, I need to clean firm it has at least a 40amp circuit?

Bummer on the lack of camp sites.

The Ford Mobile Charger pulls 30A, and it can do so for hours. Since the nominal rating of a circuit assumes a draw for a few hours tops, for a continuous draw you can only pull roughly 80% of the nominal rating. On a 30A circuit that would be 24A. To support the 30A Ford Mobile Charger you'd want a 40A circuit.

Some vehicles let you pick your amperage when charging so you could set the charge to 32A on the vehicle side, but AFAIK you can't do that with the MME.

FWIW I used a 120V charger once and it was painful.

Don't plan on using the dryer plug. Those are almost always 30A circuits, and even if it was a 40A circuit for some odd reason, it wouldn't be a 14-50 receptacle. If the place has an electric range, then now we're talking.

To me it looks like, if you stop at Mt. Pleasant, you add 3 minutes to the trip but have an EA 300 kW charger. Would show up with maybe a 50% charge.

Thanks guys for pointing that out. Going that route adds minimal time. I can top off significantly and won't need to add much via 110 when I get to the cabin. I decided I'm just going to buy a high quality, 12g, 50ft extension cord and that should be sufficient. I'm make sure to test it out before I get on the road.

So help me understand why I'd potentially want that instead of a regular 110 cord UNLESS I knew for a fact that I had access to a NEMA 14 - 50 outlet. I'm new to all this so I'm trying to keep it all straight. My current issue is that I don't know what kind of "dryer" outlet I have in the rental cabin. So if I bought a J1772 extension cord and I didn't have a NEMA 1772, it would basically end up being a really expensive 110V extension cord? Is that not right?

It isn't NEMA 1772. Its SAE J1772. This extension is on the other side of the EVSE--it goes between the EVSE and the car. Here is a pic:
Ford Mustang Mach-E Charging with an extension cord BoltExtension2

This means it will work with 120V, 240V, whatever--just don't put too much current through it (e.g. I wouldn't use it with a 48amp EVSE--this is why there is that clipper creek in my trunk: 20amps).

Edit: I should re-take the pic with the Mach-E now that the Bolt is gone LOL.

Are you sure you set the filters correctly on PlugShare? I found two places where you can plug in at 14-50 in Broken Bow (I thought it weird there wouldn't be one in a lake vacation spot). One is Tiny Town OK Cabins and RV Park. The other is Rodeway Inn. Probably pricey but it's a vacation! LOL
