Is there a third party mod that covers the backup camera from the rain? I'm not sure how it could be done, but I figure there's always someone smarter out there.

I know the ID.4 had a homespun mod that someone came up with for that.

During my two years of Mach-E ownership, I never saw a need for a cover. The camera is somewhat sheltered by the shape of the hatch. Have you had actual problems were one might have helped?

I had my car ceramic covered and never had issues with the backup cam. It does get dirty some times, and I do know some cars, VW, MB that the camera pops out when backing up, however, the devil in the details is, when its icy snow, I've had the MB cam not be able to pop out....so....not sure what the better solution is.

I think the better solution would be to have a washer for it like the front ones. I’ve seen some cars with that feature, don’t remember which.

Yes. It’s pretty useless when it’s wet. I’m surprised our experience is different. I’ll try to get a picture next time.
Same. When I backup in the rain, it is comical. The backup camera catches and holds water in view. Rain-x or Ceramic coat is a good idea.

Our Explorer had a sprayer for the rear camera. It wasn’t all that useful unless you Rain-X’d the camera lens as instead of being dirty it was just then covered in water.

I have never had a problem with the backup camera, but the Rain-X idea is a good one.

Backup camera is utterly useless here in western Oregon during wet season (Oct - June); just gets covered with mud each time I drive. It really needs a washer spray like the front - I guess it never rains or gets muddy in Dearborn!

Ceramic coating doesn't help much to keep the beads of water off. At least it's easy to wipe off the dirt when it dries on.

Ceramic coating and RainX works great on mine, never a problem.

Retired. I'd say it was a mid life crisis, but not many people live to 140.

Chevy Bolt has a washer for the backup camera but it isn’t a universal solution.

I sympathise with the original poster because you grow dependent on the camera. You want it clear and free of dirt/rain.

More than once, I’ve started a manoeuvre, got out and wiped the camera, and then finished parking.

Not as big a problem on the Mach-E as it is on other cars.
