I don't believe that is correct. If it fails due to a defect, it will be covered for 36/36,000. If it fails from an impact, it's not covered the day after you bought it.
I think the 12/12k is only for wear and tear items like tires, brakes, etc. I can't see the glass, if it is defective, being limited to that, but who knows nowadays...
The windshield is only covered 12/12k. The glass roof isn't specifically called out in the warranty though, so may be covered for the full 36/36k if there's no impact damage.

I'd recommend that if the dealership says it will be covered, you do nothing. There is nothing you need to do.

If they fight you on it, the next stop is your insurance company. Most use a glass network. Mine actually links directly to Safelite.

On a recent windshield issue (not mach e), our insurance didn't cover it, but they directed us to to Safelite. Safelite quoted us close to $500 for the job. A locally owned auto glass company fixed the repair out of pocket for under $300, same day. Safelite (in CA) didn't have any appointments near us, and the appointment they did have was several days out, a few counties over. I'm sure the glass on the mach e is more expensive anywhere (and I'm sure that's got to be covered under warranty(??), but I just wanted to share that in my price comparisons on a "normal" job, Safelite priced out at a lot more! Check out your local shops :)

What's "fixed the repair" mean?

Was the replacement glass the exact same OEM glass?

No, broken windshields aren't covered under warranty, unless it's due to a defect, which most aren't.

I saw something specifically for glass in the fordpass app. I think it was in the service tab/warranty?
I see it. "Windshields replaced for stress cracks are limited to 12 months / 12,000 mile coverage".

Man, that's tough. This is why, if you aren't claustrophobic, go with a solid roof. Glass isn't a structural element.

Take a ball point pen and follow the crack from start to end. If it catches it was a stone chip.

o_O ?

The windshield is an integral part of the safety restraint system in your car. It keeps the roof from crushing in on you in a rollover, it allows the airbags to deploy in the correct position to cushion passengers, and prevents you and your family from being ejected in a serious collision.

Glass also weighs more, at the exactly wrong spot for polar momentum.

Ummmm, A and B Pillars. I don't know how much safety glass plays a role in having the roof not crush you during a roll-over. Can any automotive structural engineers back up that claim? I think you might be quoting from auto glass websites, who are interested in selling auto glass. Are you sure you would prefer a glass panoramic roof during a roll-over versus a metal roof?

I agree on the possibility of the windshield potentially directing the force of the airbags though. The seatbelts prevent you from being ejected, rather certain that's what actually keep you in the car. The windshield is exactly what the name implies.

I have never had a sunroof. They break, the leak. With the Mach-E, I wanted BlueCruise and the 360 camera, and the roof doesn't open. So not as much risk.

I've never been a sunroof fan either, but annoyingly, for many cars, it is either standard or bundled with some other desirable options.

It can take some time for a manufacturer to 'admit' a flaw... Let us recall the catty SRX first gen who's glass roof loved to shatter and fall upon the internal ocupents.

They swore pebbles etc for a long time.
