I'm considering adding one to the MME. I'm not very savvy to trim removal and I don't want to start taking trim out and breaking it adding to the overall cost of the cam install.

So, I'm considering the Ford version and having my dealer install it.

Is this a good option?

They all work about as well as each other anymore with some standouts.
I have two Garmin (57 and 47) in my MachE as I love their wireless sync between the two units for front/rear coverage. Super easy to self install the wiring will just tuck into your panels - I’m just feeding off my front USB (and rear 12v) as it’s switched (and delayed off) with the car. No true parking guard but I am more interested in driving recording and less parking recording.

Quick video I pulled off shortly after making the switch to front and rear -

The 57 is on sale for $209 right now at BestBuy and the 47 is $149 right now.
Both are on sale - good timing if you buy now.

I got a Thinkware U1000 front/rear. I had a shop install it while I had them install the sub everyone on the forum talks about. I don’t have the time or knowledge to properly install that myself. They said the dashcam install wasn’t bad and I printed the directions from the forum for them. They hardwired it to a tapped fuse just like the thread here. The image quality of the Thimkware is great, but the app is a POS. It can also “upload to the cloud” but my MME wireless AP shuts off when the car shuts off, so I can’t remotely view when off. It does have battery protection, which is nice, but overall for the price paid, I feel it’s lacking.

edit: I paid around $500 for the Thinkware. The install cost for both the sub and dashcam was around $450 I think and it was a 4hr + install for both.

The Garmin options look nice, but I would like to have some sort of parking guard as I'm not sure if Ford will implement a sentry mode competitor in the Mach-E (though I really wish they would!).
I am concerned about 12v battery drain with parking monitoring when the car is off.

Does anyone have experience with other cameras that do monitor while the car is parked?

I'm using a Garmin Dash Cam Mini2 on my Kia EV6 First Edition. I have powered it with the Garmin Constant Power Adapter. This gives a "Plug & Play" USB connection through the OBDII port so you can run the camera in "parking mode" without having to "pigtail" a fuse. I have used it for a few weeks now without any issues. Dash Cams only draw about 1.5 amps so they shouldn't be a strain on the system. You can probably use the power adapter with any USB powered camera.

I was considering the Thinkware for better image quality but the Mini2 took up less windshield real estate.

I installed this guy, biggest headache was getting the fuse panel off and worming the wire through to the hatch.

I installed a Thinkware U1000 front and rear with a battery back-up. I think the aftermarket cameras are much better. Have a "stereo installer" put it in. I cannot believe that they cannot beat the cost of Ford installing. Check out BlackboxMyCar. They have sales, like now for the 4th of July, have a good selection, great videos/article for installation, comparision and to show you the clarity of each camera. I did all my reseach on their site and wound purcashing from them. I figured if they provided me with all my data, give them my business.
