Dec '24 Android Update - Bluetooth Connection Problems

Samsung Flip 6. Same issue. And it only started with the December 2024 update. Before that, PAAK worked perfectly with this phone.

For those in the thread with IT knowhow, is the fix more likely to come from Samsung as an update to the security patch to fix what they broke or from Ford as an update to PaaK software to update compatibility to Samsung's new protocol?

It's strange the update is from today 12/23/24 at 9:45 am but it's says its the Dec 1 security update.

Google releases a monthly security update. December 1 is when that was released. Then Samsung has to prepare it and and it out to the phones. The phones only check every so often for a new update unless you manually check sooner, so not everyone gets it at the same time.

I cant explain it when I got my update this month I lost the ability to use my PAAK and it's been weeks i posted here on Dec 13 that, it was not working and that was after a few days working with Ford and on my own trying to get it to work again. It's one of those things.

If there is a fix from Samsung, the December 1 date likely won't change but the version will "AXL1" will be something else (unless you got the fix and the previous December update has a different version)

Before getting the email from Ford that warned about deleting the PAAK Samsung phone, I of course deleted the PAAK and blew away my backup passcode. But, firing up an old Pixel 3 that operates on WiFi just fine without a phone network, I loaded FordPass and made it a PAAK device and re-entered the backup passcode. The Pixel 3 is sort of a backup fob that is backup to the door code and passcode which is backup to the Ford fob which is backup to the Samsung phone PAAK. Does anyone know what is the smallest device that can work as a fob for the Mach-E?

I just checked to see if Samsung had an update (S23). Nada. Not that I expected there to be. Will continue with FOB for now.

Anyone else having issues with Bluetooth connectivity after updating Android this month?

My OS updated this morning after driving to work. Go out this afternoon and PaaK will not work. I restarted my phone and BT connected and Android Auto works just fine. Get home and attempt to start the car again...same thing, phone is "connecting" and will not start the car. Restart again, connects long enough to start the car and then "connecting" again. AA works the whole time, phone shows BT connected to car, nothing else affected except for automatically unlocking and then starting the car. Really frustrating and almost got stuck at work this afternoon. Pics below of FordPass screen and Android info.

What is not working is the low energy Bluetooth, BLE is designed for low-power applications and does not support high data rates comparable to Bluetooth Classic. BLE is what is used for PAAK, Android Auto uses Bluetooth Classic. BLE is more secure, and can work when your phone is almost dead.

Sorry that I did not make it clear. If the backup passcode is cleared, a workaround is to get a non Samsung phone, establish it as a PAAK, and then retype in the passcode.
