Not sure how it works for an auto transport driver. I think they are considered essential services but I dont know what the quarantine requirements would be. Maybe they plan to park in Blythe and hand over the rig to a California driver? That would be pretty cool if they figured out how to plan down to that level of detail. Not holding my breath though.....
Trucking/transportation is considered essential services. Delivery trucks working on delivering products for the firm I am with are crossing statelines including the higher standard states

Much respect to Ford for recognizing customers should get these cars before dealers. Even if a financial decision, I’m impressed.
It makes sense, but then again, it made sense from the very beginning too since nearly all MMEs have pre-order customers. Yet they built most of them first. So it's a bit of a dichotomy.

It never made any sense to me to prioritize FCTP's over customer units when 10's of thousands of customer orders already existed for people anxiously waiting for a year.

I would say... look at the satellite photos on this forum. Find all the retail customer cars. Now find all the FCTP cars. I would be highly surprised if any of the FCTP cars shipped ahead of the retail customer cars. In addition, if you have a build date right now, or get one soon, it is almost assured your vehicle will ship before an FCTP vehicle.
Seems like I need to call my dealer and tell him I know shipments are happening now, and to warn him to not put any miles on my car when it arrives (also tell him not to put the dealer’s logo on the car).

And no dealer adds like etching or protection programs.

I agree. People take truckers for granted. Next time wave or say thanks. Without a trucker a lot of the things we need, well we wouldn't have.

Just did that today - Met up with the GSM and Salesperson at my dealership handling my order. Salesperson made himself a big note in large letters for my "file" indicating absolutely NO stickers and NO detailing/washing/etc. Told him I'd take a plate cover to use for a while assuming they follow my guidelines and all goes well.

Sounds like a great idea! Did he discuss financing at all? Wondering what offers are out there.

And give them a break on the road. And in the city. Car drivers complain about trucks all the time, but it's incredibly difficult to maneuver those things, and deal with slow acceleration and long braking distances while jerks in little vehicles are darting in/out around them.

We did - nothing other than a $1000 cash on Ford Options. Lease/Options won't work for me, too many miles. Otherwise it's just financing after X-Plan and Downpayment for me. I did make sure to print out the Dealer Communication regarding the $100 Co-Pilot 360 Hands Free Driving bonus (we sign indicating hands-free isn't available but the car supports it, gives us a $100 incentive at purchase). Of course he had no idea what it was, so was good I brought the dealer communication with me.

I also printed out my CC statement showing the $500 deposit that went straight to the dealer after I converted from Reservation to Order. Same situation, he had no clue or indication they had received that money, but wasn't concerned about making sure it was credited towards the downpayment of my car. Everyone should make sure they have those things ready for their dealer, doesn't hurt to start the communications now.

Very helpful points, thanks.

Yeah if the incentive is significantly more than $1,000, or if the Options interest rate goes down (relative to regular financing), then Options can become a no brainer.

Some dealers are staying up to date with the $100 incentive. It's already showing up on San Tan Ford's web site, for instance, and only on applicable models (like this CA Rt 1).

Good point re: the $100 Co-pilot bonus - got to dig that one up from the archives here...

And no front license plate mounting! :)
Yea that too, almost forgot. Thinking of tinting the front windows but not legal in NJ, however feeling very rebel.

Very interesting. I didn't even know about the $100 Hands-Free Driving bonus. Is that incentive online somehwere? Also, good hint on printing out the $500 receipt for the down payment. My dealer never responds to my emails, so I'm just going to have to stop by at some point.
