It makes sense, but then again, it made sense from the very beginning too since nearly all MMEs have pre-order customers. Yet they built most of them first. So it's a bit of a dichotomy.

It never made any sense to me to prioritize FCTP's over customer units when 10's of thousands of customer orders already existed for people anxiously waiting for a year.
The original target date for OKTB was right at the cusp between FCTP and customer units, and probably still a mix of both. That would have meant very few customer cars would have been built and most of what went out first would be FCTP. The longer OKTB was delayed, the more customer cars were ready, thus the shift.

Tesla suffers major delay.

5 month delay

Christmas’s ruined everywhere. They should have launched it with problems and fixed it later. What’s with the sudden concern about quality?
As a toy manufacturer, Mattel needs to make sure its glass is shatterproof.

Now we know Mattel’s durability and quality standards far exceed Tesla’s.

There will probably be just as many of these driving into walls and other immovable objects as Tesla’s though.

My FE was supposed to be built next week, specifically on December 16. I just learned they are running a week behind. Anyone else get the word on this?
I checked this morning and mine was moved up a week from January 17th to January 10th. Premium AWD ER Infinite Blue.

Do you have your VIN?
Just saw my VIN for the first time in an email from Ford. The dealer told me a couple weeks ago they had my VIN

Today I finally got an email from Ford notifying me it's been built and delivery is estimated as Jan 30-Feb 5 to Santa Clara, CA. Frontier Ford

Wish I was more excited by this news, but I'm mostly just angry they fell short after promising delivery in 2020. Tack on another year before I get to see my money come back to me by way of the tax rebate

From its earliest announcement, 11/17/2019, deliveries were always expected "starting in late 2020." They met this goal (barely). Based on the communication you received from Ford, it sounds like yours is not far off from that starting point.

Congratulations! You should be pumped right now. Mine is not built yet, but it's hopefully not too much longer.

If you have income tax withholdings (e.g. from payroll checks) you could consider adjusting them accordingly at the beginning of 2021. Then you wouldn't be waiting for tax filing reconciliation.

Wow. Tens of millions out of work or underemployed, over 300,000 dead, and your biggest issue is with Ford delivering a $50,000 car a couple of months later than their November 2019 schedule intended. Imagine if you had real problems.

We all want our cars. We all wanted them on time. But as has been pointed out, U.S. deliveries were always slated for "late 2020." While many of us hoped "late 2020" meant early in the 4th quarter, that's not what Ford ever said about North American car deliveries. Yes, we all hoped for mass deliveries in 2020. But once again, 2020 sux. If you want to "complain" about late deliveries, talk to the EU and UK customers who have a genuine and substantial delay.

You're going to have one of the first Mach-e's in the Bay area and a virtual handful are going to be in the south bay. Enjoy it.

I doubt it was his "biggest issue" of the year. Just the one pertinent to this forum which exists to discuss the Mach-E.
