The tires kick up dust into the wake behind the car. Since that's a low pressure zone, the tire spray and dust gets trapped behind the car and can settle on the rear window.

How dirty the back window gets is a function of how dirty your roads are. If you want to make the back glass easier to clean, put a ceramic coating on it and use the rear washer.

It's easy. Most people aren't bright enough to figure it out. It gets dirty from the airflow going over it and then bending back.

The following steps work well:

1) First, figure out where you are going.
2) Second, orient the rear two tires in the direction you are going, with the front tires aimed behind them.
3) Shift to D, say "HEY GOOGLE, CLEAN WINDOW", and then shift to R and drive.

Easy, peasy.

Also applies to aircraft airfoil surfaces where the wings produce lift due to pressure differences above and below!

What I do on mine is after wash and drying, I'll put on Rain-X on all the windows. That way when it does rain it will tend to push off dust when you drive. I've done this on my last couple of cars and it's worked great. They have fancy ceramic blah-blah ones too, but rain-x works fine IMO.

This is the answer. It does not eliminate the incoming dust, but it cuts it way down.

No, I just have an aerodynamics and fluid flow education. The phenomenon is similar to one that we find in an engine called "windage." That's one where the rotating mass creates a low pressure area immediately surrounding it, making all of the oil that is aerisolized want to stick to the rotating mass (which in turn creates massive drag on the rotating mass). This is countered in high-performance engines by the use of windage trays and crank scrapers.
