I have a friend who lives in the Bay Area and she drives to Groveland (140 miles) every other weekend or so for the past three years in her premium MME. After installing CC2's, she "instantly" lost about 10% in range over her OEM Michelin Primacy A/S tires. She needed all season tires that are very good in the snow and the CC2's are great for that and she does not mind the range hit. She has wired in L2 chargers at both homes.
As mentioned before, old worn tires are more efficient than new ones. And of course we all know that our actual efficiency is very hard to measure precisely.

They may have seen a 10% difference, but it probably wasn’t all because of the tire type.

10-15 WHAT? miles, percent? Where weather conditions exactly the same? soooo many variables to make such a statement..
I averaged 4.2 miles/kWh with the OE tires in the summer and averaged 3.7 miles/kWh with the RFT Bridgestone right after the tire change. This was not a scientific test, just my normal day to day driving.

Agree worn out tires are more efficient and it is very difficult to measure precise efficiency. I should have mentioned her Primacy's only had about 9K miles on them before her husband had her change them to the CC2's because of wanting better snow traction (they only get very light snow). She has had the CC2's on the car for over 2 years.

Exactly. I haven't had a flat tire in 20 years. Of course you know what happens now, right?
I smiled when I read this because of a recent flat I had on some Michelin RF's on my Miata. (which are brutally non-compliant, if you know what I mean)

Anyways, last night FordPass told me I had low air pressure on the 2 week old 2023.5 GTPE. I woke to a passenger rear flat with a carpenter's razor blade deeply imbedded in the sipe of the center of the tire. :(

Discount Tire, in my small town, says the replacement tire is 5 days out!

Seriously tempted to replace all 4 brand new tires. And I'm typing this sitting in the lobby of Discount Tire doing DURESS research here on the forum for what tire to go to.

Grin factor is #1 aspect. (No snow in Coastal Texas)

They can get Michelin Pilot 4S today. But then I read about the special formula PS4's for the AMG 53GT.
They are 265/40/20 instead of 245

Discount Tire has them in a Red font, which they say means "car may need modifications"

Dang it! Lol
Will they work with the OEM wheel without interference?

No, you need a wheel minimum of 9" wide to install 265/40/20's. Your wheel is 8" wide. You can install 255/45/20's on your wheel though.

Wow.
Thanks for the timely response!
You're the man this morning. ?

I decided to have them throw on the Discount Tire #1 recommended tire for the 2023 GTPE at my zip code. ?

What’s hilarious is that by all appearances it IS the same as the OEM Continental that's on the wheel. And they stock it.
But it ISN’T the exact tire, but so close that it will safely buy me some time to pick the brains of the gurus here for my permanent solution.

Which may very well include wheels too. ??

I'm not a range anxiety fella. But rather an impulse purchase 66 year old having a blast playing in the electric realm. Or put another way, at my stage in life I'm just trying to have some fun.

Perfect! I’m sure they will work great and I’m right there with you. Only a few years older and having a ton of fun modifying this car.

Thanks, but not "they", rather than "it".
1 tire. A replacement for the ruined one.
As I mentioned, I'm just buying me a few days to research what I'm going to do longterm.
I'll be researching your shenanigans with rubber. ?

You might go insane researching my shenanigans! I've only had these PS4S's (OEM AMG GT 53) on my car for a couple of weeks and while they seem to be my favorite so far, I am eyeing the PSS5's. Dying to try those out. :D

Since you are kind enough to indulge me, can you recommend the "spec" (offset and such) to allow for the aftermarket wheel that can accommodate those 265/40/20's?

Keep in mind I'm GTPE, if that makes a difference on suspension hardware getting in the way.

I love the idea of those AMG tires.
Better grip AND a nicer ride than oem? That's like getting your cake and eating it too.

To be fair, grip and ride aren’t mutually exclusive.

Price and longevity will be the enemy in this case.

I loved the PS4S tires on my last car (Chevy SS) and plan on getting 255/45 soon. I like the stock wheels, so sticking with those.

I moved this conversation over to the general aftermarket wheels and tires thread and replied to you in this post: #824

I couldn't take it.
I tried. I really did.
But I couldn't live with the mismatch of "Made in Mexico" and the ONE saying

Ford Mustang Mach-E Do You Really Need EV-Specific Tires? | Tire Rack 20240321_103056

So with only 500 miles in the OEM GTPE EV Continentals, I now have 4 non-EV Continentals.

Not likely a long life tire, of course. But looks like they should be a bit "stickier"?
Lighter.
Don't know yet if they are quieter.
Same load rating but much higher speed rating.
And honestly, surprised at @Discount Tire pricing being pretty good.

Oh, and the fellas at Discount Tire agreed to use pucks to lift the car. As well as using a torque wrench for putting the lugs on, rather than an impact. I appreciate them not considering me a pain. Nice folks.

My family (dad, brother, and son specifically) have done business with Discount Tire for decades. We were mostly won over because of the stunning number of tires that Discount Tire replaced, no questions asked, when they would get destroyed off road in West Texas when we'd go hunting. The terrain was brutal and you would never head out without at least 2 spares per vehicle. Seriously.

We swore we would find Discount Tires breaking point, but we never got anything but smiles and assurances that there would be nothing for us to worry about.

Fast forward to today, and although we no longer venture out to the land that has long since been sold, both we and the Red and white tire store are still standing. :)

By the way, this is a fairly new store. Zip code 77511
And I had never visited them because I had done business in the next town over for so many years. But they were awesome. Feel free to reach out and tell them they earned a "locals" future business and saving me the drive from now on. :)

Good folks.
