Job 1 people mad at Job 2 people like it's some sort of competition ?

I am in the same boat as @wheelsee. Happy I've had Bluecruise since I received the car in November, annoyed the charging cliff and Apple EV routing is still missing from my car. Clearly a case of Ford having shockingly limited capacity and prioritizing one feature at a time with Bluecruise being the obvious priority.
I'm sure that there is limited capacity and I'm also sure that Ford wants more than anything to be at software parity so they aren't managing four forks (Job 1, Job 2, 2022, and Lightning).

With resources being limited, top priority goes to the promised features.

I am extremely happy with my MachE, I have 0 complaints and have not experienced many of the crazy stories (fiction?) I read on this forum.

But there's no reason why Ford's software deployment resources should be limited at this point.

This thread seems to have gotten way off track....

Instead of talking about how Job 2s are effed, its just a typical conversation about some Job 2 owners wanting to get the charge curve and Apple Maps routing updates. Which are reasonable things to want.

However, please resume the conversation as per the thread title. Like can someone with a Job 2 make a post about how their car is un-drivable right now? Because, to me, that's what 'effed' means.

Figured its better than reading through tons of threads of people complaining about Job 1's and their lack of BlueCruise. Can I tag you in some of those?

Again this isn't a post about Job 1's.
It's about Job 2's if its not applicable to you just keep scrolling.

I want feature parity that can be achieved via software updates. I'm not going to risk doing an update that could brick a 50k automobile when Ford should be providing a way for them to be done

The 80% charging curve update has been out for 7 months.
The Apple Maps EV Routing update has been out of 3-4 months.
Sure, and you've had Blue Cruise for how long?

Ford's biggest problem with OTAs is the mixed bag of software and hardware they are implementing the updates onto. You can't standardize hardware after the fact but you can work toward parity of software configurations. An update of two modules may be fine if module three has software version x but may have a bad interaction with version y. Ford is finishing catching the Job 1 vehicles up to where job 2 started and adding new features along the way. Once that is complete they should start leveling job 2s to the new features. Then they will have most cars on an even playing field and it will be easier to update all of them together.

@wheelsee you are hereby forbidden indefinitely from complaining or requesting anything in life because your newer car received a feature a few months before cars older than yours.

Sorry I'll sit down and shut up now. Also my car was built 10/8/21 so I need to wait for you to have updates before I can complain.

Please tag me when you get an update so I can then begin complaining.

While I have a teeny, tiny bit of empathy for Job 2 Q4 owners, it's pretty teeny. You have BlueCruise. Job 1 cars got it 9 months late.

But I really am puzzled. Do you not read of the many, many, many issues that dealerships are having doing the updates, largely driven by issues with Ford's software and systems? Cars are being made inoperable (mine was for a period of time). OTA updates are breaking things, like killing BlueCruise (mine right now).

I had my 2022 updated by the dealership before delivery, because there was a hold on it (that they couldn't see) for the BlueCruise map update. They did a few other updates also, then stopped, because they were afraid of what would happen if they kept going. Background - they had a bunch of F-150s in for BlueCruise updates that failed when they did them and were sitting awaiting fixes.

Hoping you get something sooner that has a good chance of causing issues to me isn't the brightest idea, but hey, what do I know?

Well, since they are limited, there must be reasons.

I think @bshaw was not taking issue with the content of the thread as much as the title which we all assumed implied a serious (serious = greater than "stop safely now") issue. I think we all appreciate the opportunity to vent frustration in this forum.

My job 2 is so fraught with system bugs. so annoying. nothing on the horizon it seems. bugs are bugs. doesn't matter job 1,2,3 or 100.

That's what I'm thinking. I'm eligible for the 21P22update, but I figure the way things have been going, it's liable to do more harm than good.

BTW, BlueCruise is fun to try, but ultimately isn't worth the paper it's printed on. I hope that will be some consolation to you!
