That's very cool. Might have to take the plunge. I've never bothered to setup my dashcam in this car. This would make it really easy.

So how would this connect to the rear view mirror? This means it could be mounted just to the side of the mirror and plug right into it, with no real visible cords going down the windshield to your USB outlet? Would it only be on when the car is on, so not to drain the 12v?

I've never had a dash cam, have always wanted one but never wanted a USB cord running down my windshield nor wanted someone tearing up my car to hide the cord.

It is my understanding that the connector uses the plug underneath the plastic cover behind the mirror. The cord would run from under the cover to the dashcam next to the mirror. It only supplies power to the camera when the car is on.

Well, based off the original post, it isn't coming out for 3 to 4 weeks, so they may have just marked it as sold out and aren't doing pre-orders yet.

I also considered this option, but after watching how to install a similar adapter, I changed my mind.



IMHO it is only useful when there is already a port outside which can be converted to an usb port. Wiring from the fuse box is easier and better as it giver various powering options. It would've been more tempting if there is some adapter for rear cameras, where wiring is really painful compared to the front.

They don't list the FE in their table for the Mach-E, does it not have the auto-dimming mirror? I looked at a marketing spec sheet that showed all models have it. Or have they just not tested on a FE?

I would guess that the FE is a special edition Premium, so they lump it in with the Premium? ?‍?
