That is what a couple of bags of black earth for landscaping did to my trunk. Didn't realize how weak the support for the cover of trunk area was. Am I supposed to take off the cover before I load weight, or did Ford make a weak design/solution there?
20 bags of top soil is 600 lbs Link. Do you have a picture of how it was riding with that weight in the tail end? That would be interesting to see. How much did the bumper go down?

My insurance policy says "2021 Ford Truck Mustang Mach E Ev 4D 2Wd"

I thought it was a truck...
Apparently the 2022 range will feature a Mach-E150.
Available in many shades of scarlet red for when the axle breaks.

I remember my salesman mentioned the platform holds up to 700 lbs. Obviously, not in the upper position. I didn't realize it wouldn't hold much weight in the upper position. Thanks for the warning.

IS WHY I SAID THIS:
Maybe update the original post from 2 to the actual number to reflect the reality of why the upper brackets failed
This will be one more myth that lives forever...

Myth? Maybe. But makes sense to me to just put the board in the lower position before I load up several hundred pounds of dirt or stone.

That is quite useful to know, I never figured I could install it in a lower position! I'll definitely do that for now, and will try to get dealer to repair..

"A couple of bags" was actually 20 bags of 25L of black earth. It fit all nice, but now I know I should have moved the cover to its lower position!
Edit: Ok so 600lbs. Still surprised that bracket held that long.

Car salesmen know very little, but they make a lot of stuff up.

1/2 ton is a 1000 lbs. That is moxxi loading 600# in the back of an suv. I would have left the board at home. Maybe flatten the seats and spread the weight out. But most likely would have make 2 trips or got it delivered.

Did you lose any tire tread from them rubbing on the wheel wells? ;)

His original post says "a couple" of bags. So, a hundred pounds at most. If it broke with that little weight, it would be disturbing and a seriously bad situation. He put TEN TIMES that amount in it before it broke. That is a very different thing.

I have to agree with @Brofessional: it's super impressive that it did as well as it did

** EDIT **
Guaranteed insideevs or some other pro-tesla blog will pick up the OP and run with it, and no one will ever know the truth

I went and dropped mine then read on ? . I been carrying 20 gallons of diesel, commercial electric power washers with tools and gear, lots of groceries. It was still fine but dropped now. May keep the groceries from flying around due to all that darn torque.
