Perhaps coincidental timing, but shortly after the last update I had messages that my door required service. I made an appointment. Then it started opening randomly, it didn't have to be running. It happened when I was in my house and set off the alarm. I even tried locking the door. It would still open.

On the one year anniversary of purchase, my husband held the door shut while we drove to Ford (the one 20 miles away, not the one a mile away, because they said they had a car for us. Spoiler alert, they didn't). The service department told us the door latch assembly needed to be replaced and they needed to get it from Memphis, it was supposed to take 3 days to arrive. I wasn't happy to hear that, even more so because they didn't have a car for us.
Today was 3 days, so I called the dealership for an update. Now it's expected to ship 3 days from today, take another 3 days to arrive.

Has anyone had this part fail? Was the timing near a software update? What was your replacement timeframe?

I would say it is pure coincidence. Bummer the dealer dropped the ball, but hopefully they for sure fix it next week! Try and get them to get your car current on updates for dropping the ball on the loaner being available for you and delay in actually ordering the part!

I hope so. The door opens by itself and they're storing it outdoors in inclement Utah winter weather.
They're closed Sunday, so is the door opens any time after hours Saturday, no one would know until Monday. Tuesday is they're closed for the holiday.

Ugh this started happening to me today on my 2021, 50k miles. Opened randomly but about 10 miles later it does it constantly. Leaving it at a dealership now, will come by in the morning to talk to them.

The door opens? While you're driving?

That is undesirable.

Non stop, I was taking a left turn and it fully swings open mid intersection, gotta love the fancy doors

Wow. I'd probably wear a seatbelt.

I've seen people tie the window frame to the B-pillar with a piece of rope, when their door latch was broken. But I have not seen it in the last 50 years. Or outside the ghetto. Yes, love the fancy doors!

Yep!

Went in for the HVBJB swap, had some software updates at same time and during a service I got dealer to do afterwards whilst car was in there they reported the failure of right rear door catch, coincidence or not you decide, but quoted c£600 to replace it?

That’s a huge safety issue. If it starts popping up on several cars, hopefully Ford does a recall (or is forced to do a recall.)

The car is back. Saturday morning the dealer saw the issue non stop, so they pro-actively ordered the entire switch and lock to replace. They said it stopped doing it that afternoon. Yesterday they replaced the parts, and also updated the rear camera modules/cross traffic alerting, that had also been popping errors.

Car seems fine, although every time I use it after 5min I get a door fault error. And my invoice had no pricing, just the $100 deductible from my extended.

Are you sure you don't have anything wedged in the door release handle causing it not to return to the fully forward position? If you have a kid they might have dropped something in there. Door will fault if handle stays pulled long enough.
